A clip of Teller from Penn and Teller performing his magic trick 'Shadows'.
A beautiful combination of art and magic.

It's not often that I drop a 10 or a 1 but this one earned the former in a major way.

Re: Penn and Teller: Shadows
I agree. The trick itself is awesome, but the flow and wonder of it is completely ruined by the pointless commentary. Now, if someone can find a clip of the actual trick uninterrupted, I'd change my vote to the high end of the scale in a snap.

Re: Penn and Teller: Shadows
Wow. I desperately want to know how he does that. Too bad I'll never figure it out.

Re: Penn and Teller: Shadows
What am I missing here? The imagery is very nice and all, but the illusion seems to be not very "illusory". Seems like the flower is artificial and he has some way of triggering it to drop its blossoms as the knife's shadow touches the flower's shadow.
Strikes me as more performance art than magic.

Re: Penn and Teller: Shadows
There's no such thing as magic. It's an illusion. There's always an explanation and a mechanism. It's basking in ignorance and admiring the craftiness of the magician that consitute being a happy audience.

Re: Penn and Teller: Shadows
IF you didn't like the commentry then you have a mute button, or broken speakers like me. but dont try and figure out the trick ma man. thinking oh its a fake flower etc, just accept the fact that you wont know how he does it unless he tells you. Its what magic is all about

Besides, once you know, it ruins the whole thing for you.

Re: Penn and Teller: Shadows
magic like this trick is a piece of performance art. magic like david copperfield making the space shuttle disappear is ruined by knowing how it works, but contemplating the details of this piece doesn't make it any less beautiful to me.
