Re: SNL Digital Short: Business Meeting
Who keeps writing these horrible, completely random, and rarely
funny sketches? And who in the fucking world is responsible for
employing the current cast and scheduling hosts that 92% of the
population has never heard of?

I actually watched that episode out of curiosity as to how far
downhill SNL has gone, and I came to the solemn conclusion that
I really should stop torturing myself with the hopes that it will one
day be better.

I quickly realized that my attention was drawn to the lack of sound
emanating from the audience when the sketches were being
performed. More specifically, no one laughed at a majority of the
jokes in the live sketches, but all the pre-recorded "digital shorts"
had roaring bouts of laughter...

Re: Nobody watches The Office anyway.
I thought it was a great sketch, but then I read your comment. Now I know better.

Re: SNL Digital Short: Business Meeting
I thought it sucked too. And as for hosts that no one's heard of, I wouldn't be surprised if A-list actors aren't lining up to be on the show any more.

Re: SNL Digital Short: Business Meeting
I'm really surprised how many people disliked this skit. If you've ever worked for a boss that hired a bunch of losers, you will think this is hilarious. And is there a problem with "random"? Monty Python was random, and that stuff is hilarious. Then again, some people hate Monty Python. So if you hated this skit, you probably have a different sense of humor than the people like me who loved it.

Crazy Carl was awesome.

Re: SNL Digital Short: Business Meeting
I'm with you, this skit was funny (Crazy Carl cracked me up). Through the years I've probably only seen 5 or 6 per season, and I think this cast has some good things going for them.

What's also funny is how so many people who hate the current season, and I've experienced this for the last twenty years, swear that only the original cast seasons were funny. There were tons of funny things with that cast, but they had plenty of bombs, too.

That's how SNL has always been (and any comedy sketch show). If you approach it as a blend of funny stuff and stuff that's just eh, you'll enjoy it more. If you approach it to verify that it sucks as much as you anticipate, then it will probably suck for you.

Then again, why do I even give a shit enough to write all this?

Re: SNL Digital Short: Business Meeting
Hell, even during SNL's first season, people were saying that it wasn't funny enough and that it would never last. SNL will always appeal to enough viewers and celebrities to keep it going. Sure, some seasons have had some astoundingly bad casts, but out of any season you can find some gem of comedic writing that justifies the show's continued run.

I thought that this one was a bomb, along with Laser Cats, but I still watched the LC sequal. Most of the folks who say that they don't think that SNL is funny still watch occasionally, and so do I. So what does that say about SNL?
