Bryan doesn't watch tv. And being a technophile, I think if he did watch tv he would want HDTV. I think that's the back story to the decision to get cable. All or nothing.

by "get cable" i suppose i mean make my TV receive live television and display it in real time so I dont have to wait for the m&c version.
HD is cool, but not worth the price. All the latest TV tech stuff sometimes seems to be a distraction from the quality of the content, which is what really holds up over time as evidenced by things like the three stooges getting stoned headline today.
Arguably its why things like m&c need to exist, we have to filter out so much more crap to find the good stuff as time goes on. I'd rather spend an hour a day going through the best m&c links than taking my chances on the latest friday night lineup any day.

I'm not really sure how I feel about this. In some ways, Takei is perpetuating the stereotype that all gay men have uncontrollable libidos and want to have sex with every straight man they come in contact with, including but not limited to little boys.
I guess, though, that we all know he's fucking around and just trying to rattle some cages. Unfortunately, though, there are a lot of people who might take him seriously, or at least believe in what he's saying as true.

Good point, though that's the risk of the long pass downfield (football analogy here). IMHO, Takei scored big with the comedy at the risk of frightening the intolerant.

He didn't say that he believed in it, but sadly, it is one of the stereotypes out there. As for it having any basis in the truth, well, any group that's made out to be "the enemy" will often have all kinds of bad rumors attached to them. Doesn't mean there's any basis in reality, just that haters will hate.

But that's the beauty of it... he's saying the things that homophobics must be scared of... I mean what else can a gay man do to them? The only thing can can rationally be afraid of is that they will be fucked by one of them... hence Takei suggesting that it is indeed what will happen.

The people who won't find the irony are those who already dislike gays, who have their iron-clad ignorance and Sunday-morning "morals" to keep them company. Neither of which is the same gender as the user, of course.

I think you may be a bit off with the comments about the gay stereotypes concerning uncontrollable libidos and pedophilia. Frankly I would suggest there is more chance of the creepy loner guy of touching children than a confident, successful gay man.
True this kind of humor can often be used too quickly by the small minded among us. But those with little real ammunition will often hurl whatever they can find in place of anything substantially factual.
