Even Dwarfs Started Small: Laughing at a Camel
Surreal scene of a man laughing at a camel.

From the film Even Dwarfs Started Small (Auch Zwerge haben klein angefangen).

A 1970 film by German director Werner Herzog.

A group of dwarfs and little people confined in an institution on a remote island rebel against the guards and director (all dwarfs as well) in a display of raw and nonsensical violence (setting fire to the building, making a car run in circle, crucifying a monkey, making fun of a camel, etc.).

Re: Laughing German Midget
I actually own this movie...unfortunately. I thought it would be cool and funny, but the whole movie is actually like this. It's utterly boring, makes little sense and is full of scenes like this one that go on WAY too long with no point to them whatsoever. Whoever thinks that Werner Herzog is a genius for making lame movies like this really needs to re-evaluate their taste in movies. This isn't art, it's just boring, mindless crap.

Re: Laughing German Dude
Tito: Why does my character have to be a dwarf?

Nick: He doesn't have to be.

Tito: Then why is he? Is that the only way you can make this a dream, to put a dwarf in it?

Nick: No, Tito, I...

Tito: Have you ever had a dream with a dwarf in it? Do you know anyone who's had a dream with a dwarf in it? No! I don't even have dreams with dwarves in them. The only place I've seen dwarves in dreams is in stupid movies like this! "Oh make it weird, put a dwarf in it!". Everyone will go "Woah, this must be a fuckin' dream, there's a fuckin' dwarf in it!". Well I'm sick of it! You can take this dream sequence and stick it up your ass!

Every time I see a dwarf in a movie, I think of that scene.

Re: Laughing Man with Camel
How does crap like this make headlines?

I used to love M&C, now it's like it just keeps straining to find original content. When it does, it's total shite.

Or Wonder Showzen. But I repeat myself.

Re: Laughing Man with Camel
Exactly what I was thinking. Perhaps if the entire film were posted, it would make more sense but this small scene is only slightly interesting in a creepy way.

Average Vote: 6-Ok.

"Ok" is M&C Headline Quality?

Re: Laughing Man with Camel
On the contrary, I think the occasional obsurd headline is exactly what M&C is all about. The headlines almost always fall into a pattern and you can almost tell which links will become headlines as soon as you see them and which links are prime headline candidates.

The long repetetive scene is almost family-guy-esque reminding me of peter holding his shin on the ground going ahhhh, ahhhh, ahhhh.

The creepy thing about it to me is that it seemed like the guy was laughing because the camel was having trouble getting comfortable but at the same time the camel was having trouble taking a seat with that guy there laughing at him. As if the scene would just continue forever if uninterrupted.

Re: Laughing Man with Camel
I know it's a long bow to draw but the feeling I had watching this was like the Arabic one's where they have the music going all screaming waiting for a vehicle to run over their mine.A little bit sick. It's just how I felt anyway, Thought I'd share

Re: Even Dwarfs Started Small: Laughing at a Camel
I'd like to think that that this is an allegory of the war in the middle east. See, the wheezy dwarf obviously represents Italy, and the wayward camel is a mirror image of the Milanese SHipping Industry.
Then there's something about the war around the corner where we can't see it.

because it's a secret agenda....war. That isn't a secret.

what?
