If someone produced something like this but, it was about Islam or Homosexuality it would most likely be considered unacceptably prejudiced.

Re: Moral Orel 19: Holy Visage
Fundamentalist religion of any kind is fair game. When Islam starts providing us with Ted Haggards, Benny Hinns, and Fred Phelpses, we'll have something to sink our satirical teeth into.
If someone produced something like this but it was about homosexuality, it would just be unacceptably stupid.

Re: Moral Orel 19: Holy Visage
So with all of the parodies of al Qaeda out there portraying them to be like Keystone Kops, why is it offensive to folks to make fun of Christianity?
Dino Stamatopoulos, BTW, is a brilliant comedy writer who left Conan to start the Moral Orel series. Other works of his? Mr. Show, TV Funhouse, Mad TV, The Dana Carvey Show and Late Night with David Letterman.

Re: Moral Orel 19: Holy Visage
It's not about me. It's about comedy. Take Parker and Stone's Team America, they do a brilliant job satirizing American gung-ho know-nothings and self-important liberals (like me), but when it comes to Islamic extremists, the best they can do is "durka, durka, durka." Islamic extremists aren't funny because they don't seem very hypocritical. Most of them appear to be genuinely badass psychos who follow what they believe in. It was only when it became known that Bin Laden is obsessed with Whitney Houston that we really had something to work with.
Re: Moral Orel 19: Holy Visage
what about the whole 'call us violent and we'll kill you' thing? that seems pretty hypocritical. or the what about the woman who just got sentenced to 90 lashes for being raped?
i also dont think they have to be hipocritical to be funny. i mean these people blow themselves up and then expect a virgin for every resulting piece and will do it at the drop of a hat.
i'm still all for making fun of christians, though, cause they're wacky as hell.

"Islam is a religion of peace. And if you disagree, they'll kill you."
"They say that martyrs get 40 virgins when they go to heaven. I'd rather have two women who knew what they hell they were doing."
I've just used up about 80% of the material for jokes satirizing fundamentalist muslims. They're crazy, not wacky.

Re: Moral Orel 19: Holy Visage
yeah i guess youre right. sorry for confusing crazy with wacky. i guess since their response to everything is to blow themselves up it's just not as inspiring as the new stuff christians come up with weekly. maybe we've been taking our gentiles for granted.
Re: Moral Orel 19: Holy Visage
It just felt a bit mean spirted for me. But anyhow I apoligize for the mini rant.

Re: Moral Orel 19: Holy Visage
I'd also like to mention that a growing trend for Christians is to avoid religious Instutions like churches. They instead meet with like minded individuals for fellowship. While they are always open to sharing the gospel, they tend to be more soft spoken then their traditional counterparts.
P.S. Even Christians are annoyied by strangers on the street asking them personal religious questions.

Re: Moral Orel 19: Holy Visage
I can vouch for this.
I'm a Christian, in a round-about kinda way. Well, that's the best word I can come up with. I was raised Christian, but I think my beliefs may be closer to Deist.
