Ship Floating on Nothing
An aluminum foil ship floating above ground on sulfur hexafluoride -- a gas significantly denser than air -- at the Physikshow of the University of Bonn.

I wonder if it'd be possible to swim in a pool with enough of that gas in it...

Probably not since it's just a gas less dense than water and it had to be a really light ship, but that would almost be like flying if you could...

Definitely not. But given bouyant helps you could. Not floaties and not weather balloons, but probably something in between.
And while it's non-toxic, it would displace oxygen and drown you much like water. No bueno. Pack a snorkel if you're going to try.
