that didn't really seem to explain much. 5 minutes of "we shoot a laser at it", and bam! you've got a hologram.

Yeah, my thoughts too... "Here we are with a pretty green light.... ok, now we do the usual photographic developing stuff which really, should be covered in another program... and looky here!"
They didn't go into anywhere NEAR enough explanation about the interference patterns and how they work... how are there 'really multiple photos' in there? How does it work? Hoooow!
Just as well we have the interweb rather than relying on the Discovery Channel.
