I am not anti-jew (notice I didn't say anti-Semitic as that is popularly, and I believe incorrectly, defined as being a word for hating jews even though it originally means to hate Semites which can include Arabs and peoples of Eastern Europe. Why would a word that includes hating arabs be redefined as just hatred for jews? Hmm.) BUT... that said, it irks me to no end how Jewish people think that everyone wants to hear Jewish-related jokes or that everyone appreciates Jew jokes (i.e. Comedy Central). Even the self-deprecating Jew jokes I find to be alienating. Perhaps I am confused but I see only arrogance driving people to tell jokes about jewish culture to non-jewish audiences. Perhaps in the context of jokes about multiple cultures it is more tolerable. However, even if it is a comic telling a joke about their own jewish heritage - I just can't identify with it or find the humor in it... SO WHY IS THIS TYPE OF HUMOR SO PREVELANT IN POPULAR ENTERTAINMENT CULTURE?!
