Re: Robot Chicken: A Giraffe in Quicksand
is there really a "bottom" to quicksand?
according to wiki:
"As quicksand is rarely more than a few feet deep, there is usually little danger of sinking below the surface. Furthermore, even when the quicksand is deep enough, deliberate effort is required to sink below the surface. Quicksand is typically denser than the human body, meaning that a body is much more buoyant in quicksand than in water. Thus, the body will float quite easily in quicksand."

Awesome clips. It was bugging me on what form of animation that was though. Tough to tell.

Re: Robot Chicken: A Giraffe in Quicksand
As far as I know, Robot Chicken uses mostly stop-motion animation for their show. I know they use other techniques for some transitions and special effects, but I believe they stick to stop-motion for everything else. At least that's what I gather from the episodes I've seen.
Re: Robot Chicken: A Giraffe in Quicksand
Yeah, but this looks like neither clay nor plastic model. Which is what threw me off.

That's rubber I suppose. Maybe more than one puppet.
Re: Robot Chicken: A Giraffe in Quicksand
robot chicken likes to use old toys. My guess is they used an old stuffed animal, and modified the head. The body looks kind of clothe-like.
Re: Robot Chicken: A Giraffe in Quicksand
I'm starting to think the body is one of those cloth toys with a wired inside. And the head might be plastic...

Re: Robot Chicken: A Giraffe in Quicksand
Robot Chicken traditions aside, I'm pretty sure this is all CGI. The face is far more expressive than what could be managed with clay, and it's very easy to create a cloth texture.
