Robert Newman: History of Oil
Stand up comedian Robert Newman gets to grips with the wars and politics of the last hundred years, but rather than adhering to the history we were fed at school, the places oil centre stage as the cause of all commotion.
This innovative history programme is based around Robert Newman's stand-up act and supported by resourceful archive sequences and stills with satirical impersonations of historical figures from Mayan priests to Archduke Ferdinand.
Quirky details such as a bicycle powered street lamp on the stage brings home the pertinent question of just how we are going to survive when the world's oil supplies are finally exhausted.

Re: Robert Newman: History of Oil
I saw this on a UK TV channel. Its an awesome indictment of many things.
Newman was a hugely famous stand up comic in the UK that pretty much walked away from the fame part and went off to lecture in colleges and write books.
He is exactly correct in the facts he presents here, and will make uncomfortable viewing for people of a certain worldview -cough- Neocons.
He shines a light on America and Britains involvement in Iraq since Britain created it up until today. This is based on the performance he gave around the US, however this was for a UK audience, theres plenty of jokes but if your not familiar with UK references and humour you might not get them all.
Highly recommended!
