Valve Portal Demo >>
Portal is described as a first-person shooter set in the Half-Life universe where you use an "Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device to create dimensional doorways".
The game operates as a puzzle-based shooter, allowing you to create portals that link to one another on any flat and large enough surface.
The gameplay is similar to Narbacular Drop by Nuclear Monkey, an indie game that won the IGF 2006 Student Showcase.
Members of the development team that created the game were hired by Valve in 2005.

Re: Valve Portal Demo
I've read it's to be a free add-on with the release of HL2:E2. Sweet.

Re: Valve Portal Demo
that'd be a sweet multiplayer game...puzzle games get old though.
can u imagine multiplayer with portals to drop in on your enemies.

Re: Valve Portal Demo
Puzzle games only get old if the level design sucks. Good puzzles stay fun until you beat them all. I'm reminded of the adventues of Lolo.
Re: Valve Portal Demo
heh, i'm glad you guys like the lil discovery :)
a friend who worked at valve showed it to me, i was... blown away. and form what i hear, it's supposed to have a multiplayer component.

Re: Valve Portal Demo
ahah, the infinite loop trick is awesome. That's cool to see a game using a 3D engine that has been mainly designed to be the most physically realistic as possible and use it the most unreal possible way. That game will be helluva fun.

Re: Valve Portal Demo
I agree completely. Here's hoping the portal gun gets added to Garry's Mod after this is released.
