It doesn't matter. This is really the most amazing work by Sellers and also brilliant work by Kubrick. 2001 pales in comparison, IMHO.

Kubrick directed both: not too strange a comparison.

Re: Dr. Strangelove: Life After the Bomb
Let's say goodbye with a smile, dear, Just for a while, dear, we must part. Don't let the parting upset you, I'll not forget you, sweetheart.
We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day.
Keep smiling through, just like you always do,
'Til the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away.
So will you please say hello to the folks that I know, Tell them I won't be long. They'll be happy to know that as you saw me go, I was singing this song.
After the rain comes the rainbow, You'll see the rain go, never fear, We two can wait for tomorrow,
Goodbye to sorrow, my dear.

You can see the actors behind Sellers trying really hard not to crack up. Man, that must have been a fun set to be on.

Re: Dr. Strangelove: Life After the Bomb
I beg to differ...
I was raised to know where my nearest civil defense shelter was, I learned about fall-out in my Health class and my dad was a defense contractor so the whole idea of paranoia is just a way of life for me. Of course, your generation has the Patriot Act...heh.
An overlooked Cold War-era movie of note is Fail-Safe, w/Henry Fonda. Oh! to have him as a president now...heh. And the series "The Prisoner," w/Patrick McGoohan, is the ultimate in paranoia-based TV. After all, there's nothing like brain-washing, mind-altering drugs and isolation to cement your trust in gov't.
