He had me laughing a bit, until the c*cksucker brought in his Liberal politics.

Re: Seth McFarlane : Harvard's Class Day 2006
mmm yea..that took away from the comedy a bit.
I don't think anyone there was having much fun....pretty lame set-up for harvard if you ask me. Not worth standing out in the rain for that long, but it was worth a watch.

Yeah, the Profs were obviously embarassed that this clown was doing a standup routine for Class Day. I wonder who's speaking at Yale? Carrot Top?

not funny
What was funny was to watch graduands of such a prestigious institution of higher education sitting in the rain and forcing themselves to laugh at MacFarlane's smug smirk... and then standing at the end out of some sense of propriety. I wish they had to guts to boo him and not because his material is somehow innapropriate for Harvard or because of his "Liberal politics"? Boo him because he sucked.
Liberal? He's a Liberal? Really? How do you figure? How does taking a comedic swipe at the President make him into a Liberal? 10 years ago he would have been making a Lewinsky joke. Would that have made him a Republican? He also takes a swipe at eastern Ivy League college students joining the Peace Corps. Does that make him a dyed in the wool Reactionary Conservative?
Appropriate for Harvard? Bah. Who cares? Ultimately this was about as entertaining as Anthony Michael Hall on SNL.

As one of the Harvard students who was sitting in the rain that day, I really have to question your respective senses of humor (if not your understanding of Harvard). We're not nearly as Victorian as you all seem to think. Harvard students, as a whole, are exceedingly lewd. Sure, there were a few staff and faculty members behind MacFarlane, who didn't seem to enjoy his little show, but that only ADDED to the experience for the majority of us.
Put away your copies of Good Will Hunting, With Honors, and Legally Blond, and try to understand that our institution and student body has changed a great deal since the myths were formed many years ago.
As for his jokes...they were extremely well catered to his audience.

Oh, of course it does. I commend you for your cogent insight! Sadly, foolish people, like myself, apply in the thousands each year. With your immense sapience, I admonish you to continue your "Harvard sucks" campaign, until we've all fallen inline with your wisdom!

Re: Seth MacFarlane: Harvard Class Day 2006
Considering that Dubbya received an MBA in Business Administration from Harvard, then failed in his private enterprises before running the economy into the ground, I would just sit back, smile politely and say I went to Yale. Oh, no, wait, Dubbya went there too. Sheesh, that sure does say bucketloads about those institutions of higher learning, eh?
My college had a great basketball team. Go Dukes!

This wasn't funny, I just thought I'd clear that up.

I really do love it when people show a complete lack of intellectual prowess when they in reality, think they've caught someone with their dashing common sense.
Yeah, Bush got his MBA from Harvard. And yes, he's not the nation's finest president. But who might fill that title in history? Who might go down as having been almost...dare I say...criminal? Ah yes, it was Richard Nixon. Now he went to Duke, does that make Duke less of a school? If there's one lesson you might have learned in Phil 101, it's that correlations do not necessarily mean connections. Go read your Croce and get back to me.
On the whole, Harvard is a fantastic school. Most of the people who argue otherwise are bitter or insecure.

Uh...Duquesne University is in Pittsburgh PA, and their basketball team is called the Dukes. I guess I didn't make myself blindingly clear to disabuse you of your assumptions. Heh.
