Not Working?
Short movie by Paul Robertson designed to look like an old pixel arcade fighter.
Strange, occasionally inappropriate -- exploding pregnant zombie women -- but mostly, extremely awesome.

I like Paul Robertson work, but it's time he tries something different, at least in the form.
The side scroller format seems more an excuse to not editing down his concepts.

Re: Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight
Agreed; He's a brilliant animator, it'd be nice to seem him flaunt it in more than one camera angle.

Watch this:

It's Paul Robertson, it's from six years ago, it has dozens of camera angles and it isn't pixel art. It's pretty good, but I still prefer the side-scrolling stuff.

Wow! now that is what GB games should look like.. wow!

Re: Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006
Nice work. I like the way he includes every details of a scrolling game. Clippings when there are too much sprites, camera reaching max game screen limits when following a sprite, sprite animation loops, "lags" or slowdowns at combos, and so on.. it was funny to see Walter being summoned. Only one negative thing: uselessly gore.

Re: Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006
There's nothing more boring than watching someone else play a video game...And this short captured that idea perfectly.

Re: Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006
If your comment was meant to be a critique of the animation(and I'm assuming it was), you need to get over your control issues. That kind of comment, especially about this kind of clip, is typically made by someone that just has no appreciation for story...and awesome things.
While true, most games are rather boring to watch others play, this is not that. Games can be compelling to watch, especially if the game is story driven and you don't get bogged down churning or leveling or such.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is one of those games, back when it came out, that was as entertaining to watch as it was to play(as long as someone wasn't trying to beat rampage and continually failing). As with anything of that nature, repetition does set in and it loses that ability to be watchable. However, that is nature of well, most things.

Re: Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006
I got this weird "clipping" sound while I watched it, sorta like when quicktime is bugging out on me. Did anyone else get that? It was sorta rythmic, so I guess it might have been part of the music, but I just want to know.

Re: Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006
The quicktime hosted on DevilDucky does indeed have a little clipping noise. The original on Selectparks (link in first reply) does not.

What the hell happened at the end? What's the deal with the octopus baby thing?

Re: Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006
Watch the end fight again- you'll notice a certain summoned buddy does an "EVOLVE" thing at the end of the combo, and makes a brilliant flash over the mountains.
