Re: Wonder Showzen: Horse Apples
How exactly does a link rated as "bad" get sent to the front page? I've noticed this on a lot of 'Wondershowzen' material...no matter how much people hate it, it tends to end up on the front page.

Wondershowzen isn't even funny, it's just ignorant, bigoted, America-bashing crap. There's little valid criticism or basis in fact in any of their sketches, it's just "how can we make Americans look bad...I know, we'll stereotype them as a bunch of ignorant rednecks or warmongering psychopaths! God damn, Americans are stupid!"

Wondershowzen's biggest sin is that it exaggerates things to the point where the criticism is completely unrecognizable, and the sketch descends into utterly offensive absurdity. If they would tone it down just a bit, it might, just might, be funny and meaningful, but by reducing everything to one-joke stereotypes, it becomes painfully unwatchable.

The choice of featured stories is mostly based on personal tastes (and current state of digestion) of the admins, moderators' votes and "hype factor".

And. If you open the profile page, you'll see that four users (or more likely four fakes of the same tame lamer) and an anonymous gave a "1" on this, probably just because it's a "Wonder Showzen" clip, without even watching it. All the other voted from 6 to 9.

P.S. Just because you don't like it, it doesn't mean it's not funny. I think it is.

In fact, if I may add to your Post Script, DeK, I think that just because that particular person with those particular quantifiers as to what constitutes 'funny' doesnt like a show like Wonder Showzen, pretty much only qualifies it AS funny and also proves it is working in its intended way. Tearing apart a surrealist kids show parody for overexaggerating and not being critical enough of 'the issues' is so funny we may enter an alternate universe where Chauncy reads this and changes that person's life forever with a shot of pure childhood innocence to the forehead.

I am glad beyond all things that shows that go beyond this kind of middle of the road, kneejerk mindset are actually getting lots and lots of air time these days. You and your despicable mediocre lot have had your turn, but 'Becker' was cancelled, so give those of us who appreciate well thought out, subtle, inventive, ingenious television a break, for the love of 'Hope & Faith'.

PS: The reason stuff gets moved to the front page is because the moderators here at M&C do whatever the hell we want, spring break party style. There is an open bar back here behind the scenes, and all the shrimp cocktail you can eat. It's cooler than Jimmy Kimmel's green room. Also, because we are all the finest, most handcrafted people in the world, we know what is done is in your best interest, ergo, we dont care what you like.

Wow, that wasn't supposed to be divulgated!
Well... At least you didn't told him about our theme park, with blackjack and hookers... :D

"Divulgated." Dek, You Da MAN! You've mashed up two of my favorite words, "promulgated" and "divulged" into an awesome synthesis.
