Re: Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock
While I love Jimi's guitar playing, this has never been one of my favorite performances by him. Still gets high marks though...I mean, c'mon...it's Jimi....at Woodstock.

It's also very early in the morning. I mean, look at everyone, they are totally hung over and tired. ;)

Re: Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock
I'm living in Denmark and hence I didn't see Woodstock before a year later - and I, too, was aware of the fact that everybody was half asleep.
Actually, it has always pissed me of, that the cameraoperator was so "fixed" on Jimi's face !
To me as a musiclover, its anoying, that he didn't focus on Jimi's work on the guitarneck instead...
I know that of the odd nine cameracrews, working on Woodstock (the mother of all festivals) only one was working monday morning, when Jimi finally made it, everybody was exhausted; but how "stoned" can you get, when you're filming GOD...
IF you get the "Hendrix at Woodstock" DVD extra xtra dubble extended, you get a behind camera feature of Jimi plaing the complete "Star S.B", also the part where the camera crew had to change spool (Where they inserted the "eaglefly over Woodstock" part in the movie)...It was an amateur, mengling with a super 8 camera, that made it... Even showed it to Jimi after the festival !
Check it out...

Re: Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock
I agree with your comment, however in the moment of Woodstock, during those times, the cameramen were most likely VERY high!! This can be seen among other spots in the movie in the Richie Havens clip,,,The focus is on his foot going back and forth seemingly FOREVER... :) By the way I am Danish, living in America, and when I saw Jimi it was in Copenhagen and truly the whole place was high!!!!

Great Dane...
I was in Jutland in Highschool when "Woodstock" came up...
We to were quite high, but maybe not as much as the named cameraman, I guess.
In Ribe by the way - in widescreen - and blowing out stereosound...'at was times !
Jeg kommer fra Helsingør; nice talking to you - a small world, ain't it !

And we think other cultures' gods are messed up: Ours die of drug overdoses.

If the word God can be slung about this easily, what's the next step? Will the next generation's Jimi be called a Genetic Scientist?

Re: Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock
ehhr...I think you perhaps took that comment a bit too seriously...Jimi Hendrix was my first concert, I was 13 years old, and musically he really could take you into space.....
Love,

...I think I was really tired and in a weird mood or something when I posted that. I think it was maybe more of a late night comment on language rather than anything else.

I'll try to stay away from posting when I'm awake late and already low on sleep. I seem to think my thoughts are more important than they are around those times. :)

Re: Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock
Now, that I know your Danish, where did you see him ? In Tivoli, Jan. 7. '68, in Falkoner Centret, Jan. 10. '69 or at the K.B. Hallen, September 3. '70 ? (the last show in Denmark and, by the way, almost the last in the world !)
You can get the shows on cd at www.radioactiverecords.com

Re: Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock
It was KB hallen 9-3-70. It was my very first concert ever!!! An amazing show, in those days you could walk all the way up to the stage ( where we stood the entire time!!) and watch the performers. Jimi was truly something to behold, he played behind his back, and with his teeth and all the other tricks he would do..Ja, det var en af de allerbedste koncerter i mit liv...hej med dig !!!

Excuze me while I kiss the sky....
Sorry I didn't see your answer, but - as you probbably know - these are strange days to be a Dane.
Nevertheless it was a great gig, wich I unfortunately missed!
Yea, a great set list. too

Re: Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock
I am baffled. Perhaps I needed to 20 years old 45 years ago to understand what psychedelic drugs and music meant to people. But I do know that theres no way a guy like JH could ever make it in the music world of today. Not because of talent, but because of todays corporate bureaucracy and it's generic propaganda agenda.

Re: Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock
You know, I think Hendrix would make it in today's world. But only if he got a new wardrobe.

He still to this day is argueably the best guitarist and will always be considered a legend.

Re: Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock
Great performanc. Poor camera work. Close-ups are okay but not win your missing half the action.
