Re: Gun Control
Some element of truth to both sides of gun control, however when I lived in the great southwest, where most pickup trucks have gun racks with at least two rifles and a shotgun, at least they have the good sense to prohibit guns from entering places where alcohol is consumed or sold. If caught? Automatic jail time. Does it stop everyone? Of course not.
Needless deaths are sad but ain't we all just blobs of protoplasm screwing up all day?

Re: Gun Control
I saw this movie in the theatre, and was rapt the whole time. Simply, it moved me, like most of Linkletters movies. The girl I went to see it with, however, was bored to tears, and loathed me for bringing her along. There is no moral to this story.
Re: Gun Control
This would NOT be my first choice for a date film... You should always let the gal pick, especially if you have any big plans afterwards...
Re: Gun Control
She was someone I lived with so it wasnt exactly a 'date'. As to letting her choose the flick if I want to have sex with her, feminism has been near entirely killed by narcissism, and because of that, any argument I could make for equality in movie choice is no longer valid. So I wont even try. You are right.
Re: Waking Life: Gun Guy
This was... not bad. It covers the basic points of pro and anti gunners, but I would first like to add...
Four basic rules of gun safety:
1) Treat every gun as though it were loaded.
2) Never point a gun at anything you don't want to destroy.
3) Finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot.
4) Always be sure of your target, and what's behind it.

Re: Waking Life: Gun Guy
Waking life is one of the rare flims which I hold in absolute contempt. Beneath the philosophical grazing is one of the most depressing films ever made. I'm a hardcore determinist, and even I found the film completely empty of meaning or hope. I know that it actually inspires most people who see it and like it, but I found it even more bleak than the idea of having no freedom. I'm reminded of a scene in Angel where Spike is discussing miniature liquor bottles: "It's like a tease. It's like, 'Here's what a bottle of Jack would look like.....if you actually had one.'"
Interestingly, I felt exactly the same way about Apur Sansar, another supposedly uplifting film.

Always remember, bullets don't kill people; mortality kills people.
