John Cleese's Eulogy for Graham Chapman
A sad affair in 1989, Graham Chapman died at a young 48.

John Cleese gives fitting tribute to the comic genius.

Bonus: Eric Idle leads everyone in song.

I wonder if Cleese is available for hire. I'd like to be sent off like that.

Thanks to Jaxon for finding a version that goes all the way to the end. With a melancholy smile and tear, I've just watched this clip for about the tenth time.

Spammy, Jaxxon, thank you and godbless.

It's a sad truth; The Flying Circus has never quite been up to snuff since.

He's sorely missed.

Where is this clip from? Is the original documentary available online?

Re: John Cleese's Eulogy for Graham Chapman
having just lost my father 3 weeks ago and finding myself having to give a eulgy nex wekend in California for 300 - 350 people at his memorila, I wish I had the gift that Cleese has. My father loved Monty Python and had a great sense of humor and loved a good practile joke. He would have loved to see this clip and to have some one eulogize him in this humorous way.

*smiles* I helped my father look up the lyrics to the chiquita banana song for his eulogy of my grandfather.

In a way it helped me to cope knowing grampers would smile at it.

The Graham Chapman Archives used to have a ton of great information and pics...Sadly, it looks like the site is on life support nowadays.

I always feel a little sad when I see and laugh at Graham Chapman's old material. Struggling with alcoholism and the stigma of being gay at the time, he's a bit tragic in a way.
