Clint Eastwood's speech at the RNC.

Re: Clint Eastwood Speaks at RNC
Following a discussion with an empty chair, an empty suit came out on stage.
So tell me why, if Romney gets elected, anyone ought to respect the Office of the President like this? To suggest that the US President tells Eastwood that he's full of shit or to go fuck himself is respectful?
I'm just asking if anyone sees any problem here.
Bush 43 said that no one should ever, EVER disrespect the Commander in Chief while we are at war. But the GOP feels perfectly comfortable doing so.

Re: Clint Eastwood Speaks at RNC
Heard Wolf Blitzer say the say something very similar. I don't get it. Could you explain how smearing, insulting or ridiculing the president is 1. out of the ordinary and/or 2. how it constitutes disrespecting "the Office of the President" ?
I do get that there is hypocrisy on the part of republicans in this case, but I don't think Eastwood crossed a line that hasn't been crossed a million times before.
Eastwood lowered himself.

Re: Clint Eastwood Speaks at RNC
There is a difference between saying that "The President is an idiot" and "Mr. President, you want me to tell Governor Romney to go fuck himself". Do you not think?
Please let me know if I need to make the distinction for you.

Re: Clint Eastwood Speaks at RNC
Has anyone ever told you that you can be very passive aggressive?
I'm just talking to you. In case you want this to continue, you will indeed need to classify what Eastwood said. I'd clumsily classify the quote as being a sort of vulgar ridicule; really vulgar. If anything, I feel that it lowers the 'office of beloved film-director'. Politics is so ruthless (in your country), that if this particular brand of 'comedy' were effective, politicians would use that shit all the time. I feel like they are indeed using slightly similar, but less self-destructive tactics constantly.

Re: Clint Eastwood Speaks at RNC
I can be downright nasty but I only do so when provoked, thanks.
Yes, Eastwood made a fool of himself. But perhaps the gravity of the situation eludes you. Let me continue, if you will. This was not a comedian in a standup act on-stage at the Apollo Theater. This was not a campaign rally with 100,000 attendees. This Eastwood making believe that the US President was telling Romney to go fuck himself and making believe that the President was telling Eastwood to shut up was on TV. Not just the cable news outlets. Prime time network TV. ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, and PBS all had the feed. Over 25 million people were estimated to have been watching this stupidity.
But the numbers aside, it wasn't just your average run of the mill insult. It was a classless act that was demeaning. It was designed to appeal to those who consider Obama as being different. You know, the birthers. The ones who question what country he was born in. The ones who create bullshit like Obama removing work requirements for welfare recipients. The ones who repeat the outright lies that $716 billion was cut from Medicare (it wasn't, it was a projection of cost savings from providers).
But if I am slamming the door too hard right now, please let me know. I have the ability to open it again and slam it harder.
Thanks. And have a nice day.

Re: Clint Eastwood Speaks at RNC
No matter how you dice or slice it, it's gonna be bad over yonder. Romney may even be worse than Obama, which is quite a feat. What a total shithead, backed by morons. Jeesh. The Republican Partei is even worse now than under Bush 43. Bunch of corporate whores.
Re: Clint Eastwood Speaks at RNC
Eastwood should have just stayed out of politics. I gotta say, I lost a little respect for him after his speech. Looks like ole' Clint has "jumped the shark."
