Hila Science: Honeybee Colony Collapse Hypothesis
Colony Collapse Disorder is a condition where a honeybee colony suddenly depopulates to an unsustainable level, causing the entire colony to perish, with very few dead bees found near the hive.

Wayne Campbell describes a hormonal exchange hypothesis which may account for how a collapsing colony can rapidly cause bees of all work roles to become field workers, flying off to die of whatever killed the previous population of field workers.

Obviously of high concern to anyone who is affected by agriculture yields (anyone who eats).

This is fascinating stuff. Unfortunately, Monsanto will use it as a selling point for GM seeds.

Obviously, we need more corporate control of agriculture to solve the problem of genetically manipulated crops treated with systemic pesticides and raised in vast monocultures.

Arg. Loqi has cited Natural News. :/ Sad day.

Story checks out, though, with more reliable sources.

:)

Natural News is a mixed bag. Actually not consistently reliable in a scientific way, but it has good stuff and advice and take it or leave it. It's more or less a sort of composite site for people who already lean in particular ways toward certain thinking.

"people who already lean in particular ways toward certain thinking"

I agree - as in, not critically. ;)
