Well, of all the things you could do with your parents money... this would be the weirdest. I figure its the parents money because everyone i have ever known wouldn't look at their paycheck and think "i could buy a foam axe with this". maybe paintball gear, and at an extreme...magic cards (8th grade, man that was forever ago). Still a funny clip with what i thought was a cute girl, coulda been a guy, or a girl with a lot of makeup, i don't know.

These folks are easy to mock, but when I stop to consider all the planning and coordination that goes into one of these "adventures" I have to stop laughing ... for a while.

Still at least they're getting outside and doing something physical while I'm sitting here typing away ...

I'm not a nerd, play pencil and paper roleplaying games, and even I think that LARPing is a little wacky. Most (if not all larps) are like bad high school theatre improvisation sessions with bad improvisationalists, which is why they're embarrassing and make you want to cry.

Who the fuck would want to spend a summer like that? After stressful finals I'd rather go outside and do something...productive. Anyways, why do it to someone you don't know and hate with a big foam stick when you can beat the shit out of your annoying brother...or for those who don't like violence, simply wrestle. Damn nerds just ruined my summer vacation.

Indeed. LARP'ing is no more lame than any other social gathering. It's camping in costume, it's improv acting on the fly, and it's good excercise. Perhaps some acting is better or worse than others, but everyone is there to have fun. LARP'ing may not be fun for everyone, but that doesn't make those that do enjoy it lame. I personally don't like line dancing to country music, and I wouldn't want to go to a country bar, but that doesn't mean I talk trash on the people that do go there. What's lamer: going out and having fun with your friends however you see fit, or sitting at home by yourself talking trash on the internet about things you've probably never even tried? If you think that running around the woods with foam weapons is pathetic and you can find something better to do why don't you get up, step away from your monitor and go do something more productive than mocking other people's hobbies on an internet forum.
