Lion at Portland Zoo Tries to Eat Baby In Zebra Striped Jacket
At the zoo in Portland, Oregon the usually lazy lioness, Kya, tries desperately to eat my son through the glass. Jack is coincidentally dressed like a baby zebra in his black and white striped hoodie. He is brave though and calls her "kitty kitty". That's my boy.

Okay... Zebra coat. Tickets to the zoo. Camera phone. Yeah, I think we're ready for the apocalypse. You?

Re: Lion at Portland Zoo Tries to Eat Baby In Zebra Striped Jacket
Hi. I read through all the posts on YouTube, and if this is indeed posted by the parent who left their child sitting in front of the lion I have a couple things to say to you:

I'm sure you enjoyed your unique camera opportunity at the zoo. You clearly understood that your child was neither afraid nor in danger, so please don't think I'm about to say anything to you about the care of your son. (Although a young girl's voice in the video did seem to question your actions at the time.)

I'm going to talk briefly about what you yourself noted here, and chose to ignore anyway. According to you, your choices changed the behavior of a normally calm animal. That animal has trainers who DON'T have the benefit of bulletproof plexiglass when they encounter their animal in the enclosure. With a large animal, they'll always approach with caution, but they have absolutely no way of knowing that earlier that day someone was ACTIVELY TEASING an animal capable of killing a human.

Behavior like yours gets trainers and animals both injured and killed. When attacks occur, the animals are ultimately blamed and may be put down, usually against wishes of the trainer.

Here's a story from 2008 where teasing big cats may have ended in a visitor's death at the San Francisco zoo. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/01/02/MN9TU8AGC.DTL

Please pull your video from YouTube and stop sharing it with strangers. You're encouraging people you've never met to do the same thing - thoughtlessly tease large animals. You could ultimately get someone hurt, and that's not funny or cute at all.
