I had a few piglets and I never knew any of this other than the fact that they eat their own feces and that it is quite natural. But to assist if they are in a bind (so to speak)? Hey, one of my little guys was special and I really liked him, but he would have died if he ever got that level of digestive distress. No way would I perform what is essentially a surgical procedure without a scalpel. Blech!

This happens a lot with the elderly and infirm all you need is a surgical gloves,ky jelly and a strong stomach.
