Says Fox News.
Don't watch this! Don't get another point of view or think for yourself! Don't grow a conscience! Obey!

Because it's the liberal equivalent of fox news. How do you guys not see this shit is just the opposite side of the same coin?

+1
Sorry, guys. It's funny because he's right. *chuckles* Someday, we'll find out that Sean Hannity and Bill Maher were twins separated at birth and raised by extreme left/right families. I'd watch that movie, especially for the ending, when the "big reveal" happens.

It is the liberal equivalent of Fox News, but with the difference that this is sometimes darn funny.
Maher could be really funny, if only he'd pull his head out his own arse.

Re: Only Believing What Fox Says & New Rules
Maher is a comedian. Is Sarah Palin? Sean Hannity? Chris Wallace?
Had you thoughtfully suggested that Rachel Maddow or Keith Olbermann were the left side equal of Fox News, I'd heartily agree with you. But Fox News doesn't tell jokes. They tried with Dennis Miller as a shill for O'Reilly. They tried with the Half Hour News Hour. Both failed miserably. Fox News is giving people the news that they want to hear. Much like MSNBC. Neither of which I will watch for more than a few minutes.

Re: Only Believing What Fox Says & New Rules
My comment was less about the comedy and more about the talking points that their followers repeat. Delivery styles are different (kind of, all are smug as hell about their positions), but the impact on and distribution of societal memes is the same. All are "us" vs. "them" drum-beaters. Camp vomit warriors. Polarizers.
Re: Only Believing What Fox Says & New Rules
My main thrust wasn't really about comedy, although I did mention it several times.
Maher grew up only a few miles from where I did and at about the same time. So I'm not surprised that we share several of the same views. But I will suggest that when he has a Conservative on his show, it's not a set up stooge like a tactic that some cable news channel might stoop to.

If you were standing in for Maher on his show, who would be your guests?
Re: Only Believing What Fox Says & New Rules
No, Bill Maher's show is not the equivalent of Fox News, and here's why.
Bill Maher makes absolutely no claims of being "fair and balanced." In fact, he claims quite the opposite. He makes it very clear that he is a liberal and that his show is a medium for his liberal views. Believe me, there is a TON of stuff Bill Maher says that I don't agree with, but I don't have a problem with his show in and of itself because he is merely giving his opinion on things, no matter how wrong I think he is. In contrast, Fox News portrays itself as an unbiased source of news, all the while lacing its stories with conservative propaganda, ignoring or downplaying news stories which don't fit its agenda, and outright lying when that's not possible.
This is also the same reason why I don't hold Rush Limbaugh in nearly as much contempt as Fox News. Rush makes it very clear that he is a conservative giving conservative opinions on a conservative show. He doesn't try to masquerade as an unbiased news commentator.

No matter how many times News Corp spouts their slogans, I seriously doubt anyone really considers them to be unbiased. I bet in ultra red states like Utah and Idaho, their viewers completely understand that they're watching the news that they want to see.

Re: Only Believing What Fox Says & New Rules
While that may be true in regard to the main "shows" like the O'Reilley Factor and Hannity, I bet most viewers think the regular news hour really is "fair and balanced," even though that's when some of the worst shenanigans happen, such as reversing poll numbers and failing to report any news story which might help the other "side."
