Not Working?
Sept. 20 - A Dutch artist has blended spider silk with human skin to produce a super-strong material that can stop a bullet at half its regular speed. Jalila Essaïdi collaborated with cell biologist Abdoelwaheb El Ghalbzouri to produce the material which is three times tougher than Kevlar. Stuart McDill reports.

Re: Human Skin Strengthened With Spider Silk Stops Bullet
Only one complaint about this clip. The narrator says that this development has scientific value. Nonsense. A pencil lead made of human feces has scientific value. What he meant to say is that the spider silk has COMMERCIAL value.

Re: Human Skin Strengthened With Spider Silk Stops Bullet
Hmm...pencil leads out of human feces. It could work, if one could collect it before it combines with the rest of the chemicals that get washed down the drain. Then you'd have to dry it (poop is 75-90% water) and burn it to collect the carbon. I guess then it could be molded into pencil leads. I suppose that could have some commercial value, too, depending on whose poop it was. I think Wellie Nelson might have a few of his writing pooptensils for sale. Know anyone that needs just a little more crap in their lives?

Oh, a wiseguy, eh?
How about cementing cinderblocks together with mortar made of guacamole having scientific value?

He meant that their research could be used by others and tweaked for different applications, which is kind of how science works. Scientists tend to work off of each other and previous works and data. If they accomplish their goal, it does have scientific value. Why even watch these things if you can't figure out something simple like that?

Why do you come here and post inane comments if you can't figure out something as simple as that?
Just fucking wow.

Re: Human Skin Strengthened With Spider Silk Stops Bullet
On KFC nights, my poop is 99.8% water. I'd love to contribute, as long as the water/solids ratio isn't too much of a problem for you.

Re: Human Skin Strengthened With Spider Silk Stops Bullet
Sure, but at that water-to-poop ratio, you'll need to send a lot. A ton or so might be enough to get started. Here's my address:

I'm frequently out, so send it care of my, uh, secretary John Boehner.

I made a poop crayon. Its just a prototype, but it performed pretty well in preliminary lavatory tests at my local Wallmart.

How did the mathematician solve his constipation problem?
Worked it out with a pencil.

I knew there was something to Spiderman.
Re: Human Skin Strengthened With Spider Silk Stops Bullet
Nice! Bullet proof skin means gun violence will finally become irrelevant, right?!! Right?? Unless of course they invent bullet-proof-skin-piercing-bullets, then we're all fucked.

Skin condoms.
I'm giving away that idea away for free to any scientist out there reading this.
