Re: Woz's $2 bill sheets
That was great. I enjoyed the DoD ID story just as much as the $2 bills.

If we could harvest the energy this man has invested into being a nerd, we could fuel the world.

Re: Woz's $2 bill sheets
I'll bet the serial numbers are "suspicious" because they're sequential.
Re: Woz's $2 bill sheets
Real serial numbers? I'm still not sure how this isn't counterfeiting.
Re: Woz's $2 bill sheets
Ah, from an oh-so-reliable YT comment: "I found an article Steve wrote about this here: woz.org/letters/general/78.html - he didn't tell the full story in the video, he made it seem like his friend printed the actual bills for him. What? he actually does is buy the bills in sheet form from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing which will sell legal sheets of uncut currency, then he has a friend turn them into pads, so the bills are legal. He just left out part of the story."
The source doc he references is either gone or never existed, so take it for what it's worth.

Re: Woz's $2 bill sheets
All the "fresh ink" and "don't know if this is the right president" talk at the beginning doesn't really jive with this story. Nor does selling four of them for $5.
Re: Woz's $2 bill sheets
Looks like woz's site has been reorganized. The valid link is http://archive.woz.org/letters/general/78.html -- the YT comment is correct.

Re: Woz's $2 bill sheets
"I got a printer in my hometown of Los Gatos California to make these pads for me. I got him the supplies from a higher quality printer."
Translation, "I paid a guy to cut, bind, and perforate some bulk sheets of unusually denominated currency, which I acquired legally from the U.S. Mint."
His counter-counterfeit currency is like the opposite of Salvador Dali's magic checkbook or Emperor Norton's home-made bank notes.
I'd give the Woz five dollars and a butterscotch toffee for one o' them thar 4 x $2 sheets.
