Big Bird Learns About Death
The actor who played Mr. Hooper on Sesame Street, Will Lee, died. The Sesame Street people decided to let the character die too, and used it as an opportunity to teach children about death.

This clip demonstrates how to treat death in an honest and helpful way better than any evasive or euphemistic gibberish I've heard from allegedly mature people.

I remember Mr. Hooper dying, but never saw this episode.

A much more mature solution than going to the pet store while they are at school and getting them a new Mr. Hooper and hoping they don't notice.

Re: Big Bird Learns About Death
They totally should've turned it into the Monty Python Parrot Sketch. Big Bird could have gone into the store with a dead Mr. Hooper and said, "I wish to complain about this Mr. Hooper what I purchased not half an hour ago from this very boutique." That would've been awesome.

Good memories....Thanks!

Sesame Street watchers today totally missed out on the years when everyone thought that Snuffleupagus was Big Bird's "imaginary" friend because they never saw him. I remember as a kid getting frustrated when just as everyone walked out of the room...Snuffleupagus would appear. LOL

Was Sesame Street wrong for making us hopeful and optimistic about this shitty world? Sadly, I sometimes wonder.

I sure miss those days.
