Not Working?
These two guys have trained this horse to ride in the car, eat cheeseburgers, fetch a beer and sleep in a bed.
Funny, I thought horses were herbivores.

Re: Patches, the Domesticated Pony
yeah, but this pony looks so happy...I can't believe it has a bed...

Re: Patches, the Domesticated Pony
Uh, question... how do you know if the pony is happy?
That aside, I still want to know if the local law enforcement has a problem with the way that equine goes riding down the street. Not that it's cruelty to animals, but the poor horse could explode sitting on his end like that.

Re: Patches, the Domesticated Pony
I must say that this pony doesnt look happy at all. The most I could say is it looks... trained.
Also, I might be wrong, but I think spam is right saying the poor horsey could explode sitting on its end, not to mention lying down on its side. I thought the only time a horse lays down is when it is dead, like sharks.
Also, Big Macs are made of soy and beef fat. Hopefully not horses and unfortunately not cows.

Re: Patches, the Domesticated Pony
I don't know if you are kidding or what, but that pony looks pretty happy riding down the road in that car, an unhappy or scared horse would be thrashing around. And...horses do lie down, ONLY when they are comfortable and safe ,to sleep. Of course it is trained, but I am just saying that the pony looks like it is enjoying itself with these two morons.

Re: Patches, the Domesticated Pony
I wonder if he looks at the cows differently after a trip to McDonalds. You ever get the feeling these two guys love this pony a little more than they let on?
Re: Patches, the Domesticated Pony
I wonder if the cows look differently at the glue holding the Big Mac container together when they see the horse eat?
Don't ever stop your commentary. It's perhaps the best part of being here.

Re: Patches, the Domesticated Pony
Well, are we really sure that a McDonald's hamburger contains 100% ground BEEF? Patches could be an unwitting cannibal.
And I think PETA would have a real problem w/these guys feeding a horse fast food then subjecting him to TV. They've bombed medical testing facilities for less humane treatment of animals. And of course these guys are a little too sweet on their equine friend, especially after a 6-pack of Lone Star beer.

Re: Patches, the Domesticated Pony
Woah....can honestly say I've never seen anything that's quite like this...
And yes, lyzard, I'd have to say that these guys have more than a passing interest in this pony.

Ok, maybe you guys have a point there, twisted ~~~

Re: Patches, the Domesticated Pony
Do horses play nice like the soft fluffy sheep supposedly do?

Re: Patches the Domesticated Pony
I was thinking the exact same thing. What the hell do they do when the pony has to crap? Especially when they're riding in that car...

Re: Patches the Domesticated Pony
Why do you think it's a convertible? Bombs away!
Re: Patches the Domesticated Pony
I could be wrong, but aren't horses normally vegetarian anyway? It's therefore a bit wrong to feed meat to the horse then.
Also, I concur with the consensus that those two cowboys probably really do 'love' that horse...
Still, at least it fetches beer.

Re: Patches the Domesticated Pony
A bit of annoying random information:
one Olympic horse's favorite foods were grapefruits (whole), beets, and watermelon. My horse loved watermelon (rind and all) but hated molasses.
Horses eat a lot more than hay. But cheeseburgers are just... wrong, and unnatural.

Re: Patches the Domesticated Pony
As long as the horse is healthy (and it looks like it is), I believe that it's fine. Sure, horses are herbavores, but as long as the majority of his diet is hay/pasture, this horse will survive.
As for the concern of this animal's happiness, I think it's rather silly for people to make judgements when they have obviously never spent a lot of time around these animals. The bottom line is you can never force a horse to do anything, the thing weighs over 1,000 pounds. If this horse was unhappy doing any of these things, the two guys would probably have been kicked to death by now. It looks as if they trained him using treats, which is why he continues to do the tricks. Feeding a horse normally make him "happy" so why not?
Horses can, and do, frequently lie down. If Patches got uncomfortable while laying on the bed, I'm sure he would fix that. The same thing goes for the car, if the horse was in any pain, it would not tollerate it too long.
So don't judge some guys just because you don't have any experience around horses, it's not fair. I think it's cute and Patches is an amazing animal.
