I find it very disconcerting that the government spends about 17.3 billion on making nuclear waste and only spends .6 billion to clean it up.

Well, since they're going to dump much of the nu-ku-lar waste under Yucca Mountain in Nevada, a state which is basically a great big wasteland w/gambling and hookers, the bargain basement expenditure is understandable. Okay, I'm being unfair: Tahoe is nice, but half of it is in California anyway.

Making nuclear waste? come on. nuclear power is probably our best chance of getting out of our thirst for oil. I suppose you're glad that we're spending a couple bucks on that little thing in Iraq?

Getting out of oil dependency is one thing, the other thing is what you're getting into in exchange. Nuclear energy is not clean at all.
