Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
BBS spotted! I will watch and rate this one later tonight. I return after a week and there's a BBS link waiting unmoderated.
Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
W_W spotted! Lots of folks coming back from their haituses this week. :)
Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
Hi! What's a haitus, though? Sounds both Japanese and sexy. I don't remember any of that stuff happening to me this last week.
:-)

Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
High-eh-tus. A long break from life, usually taken for recovery purposes.
Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
Sir, my brain spans the vastness of space and the eternity of time. I know what a hiatus is, but it's the 'haitus' that has me stumped. I still want to know what that is. Somewhere on this planet, someone knows, and ...
Teh ridle is solfed; yuo maent it good but yuor paw made a mistaik. Time for a rekofery? Yuo overburden yuor paw to much?

Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
Ah, spelling Nazi today - now your post makes more sense. I'll just chalk it up to a lack of consentrashun.
(Yeah, that joke was in bad taste and a little campy.)

Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
But you are campy and I bet you taste bad, too. Eating too much out of garbage cans, eh? Even if you lick yourself all over, as cats are wont to do, will make it worse!
(I did like the joke, in all honesty. Not sure what that says about me.)

Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
I've got a nagging suspicion it may be a duplicate.
I must say it's not so much Scientology that's to blame, but the people falling for it and playing according to its made-up rules they can change at any moment. Scientology, to be sure, is pure evil, and care should be taken not to have it become so powerful it can run amuck. Scientology preys on a weakness in the mind. If you give them any trust, they'll suck you dry and you won't even know it.
The Church won't stand a chance against common sense, the Law, and a citizenry united against evil.

Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
I did a cursory search and didn't find it. If it's a dupe, then ding it. Yeah, that's what I said. DING IT.
Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
Oh, and I hate this cult more than others because this one wants so much money up front. Not even a pledge (like my mom's Episcopalians), but a payment up front! Fuck.
This link explains why cults will always be around, though. Your expectations are too high, Wolfie, darling. You want us to have sense. We want Life Made Easy (TM).

Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
Miss Mole calling me darling tempts me to check out her burrow. Have you furnished it well? I love soft sofas and dimming light and warm showers.
By the way, fuck Scientology. I even have a few items by Hubbard in my library. He's a bad, bad writer, so I only got an interview and maybe a short somewhere.

Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
I hope you like disco, darling!
"Cause we're living in a world of fools,
Breaking us down
When they all should let us be
We belong to you and me....."
For reals, for reals, that's what's on right now. Got to take me as is.
"Here I am, prayin' for this moment to last,
Livin' on the music so fine, borne on the wind,
Makin' it miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.
Night fever, night fever, we know how to do it!"
This is the JAM. This is FASCINATING. I CAN LISTEN TO "JIVE TALKIN'" ON A LOOP FOR HOURS.

Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
That's all right with me. I won't be smashing stuff in your burrow. I will poke my snout in your fridge, though. Of course, you're welcome to fetch me beer when I lie stretched out on your sofa. I'll never force ya. I'm very big on equal rights for men and women. However, I need a good cross-section of the bed, 'cause I like to lie diagonally (but I usually pull up my hind paws to my chin or thereabouts, so room enough for you, I guess/hope). No disco in bed, please. Makes me flail my limbs wildly this way and that. Terrible for the digestion and your womanly flesh. Also, no biting and scratching. I hate that. Nibbling and stroking is much, much better.
Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
Thank god Scientologists are white people from wealthy capitalist countries otherwise it would be wrong to criticize them or make fun of their religion.

Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
Of the assumptions made, one of them would be an education of white people in capitalist countries, something that might not be available elsewhere, especially in science, math or reasoning? Maybe that is why. However, like my mother says, "don't hang out with idiots or you'll become one"... and then there are the choices.

Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
I think it's amazing that hubbard (small h) was able to scam so many people.
A Bernie Madoff pyramid scam is one thing - all you need to do is create investment statements - but to create a whole way of thinking?
Reading some comments above, it sounds like Hubbard wasn't even that good of a writer. I think the real story is how this whole thing got started. Who was the first idiot to be converted?

Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
Prolly a woman. You know how it goes: women are the engine of change. Sometimes it's progress and sometimes it's nail polish and labia piercings and lipstick tested on bunnies and headaches and unwanted vaginal discharges and sagging boobs. If America wanted change, it should've voted for Hillary. Each day another hat, another dress, another funny handbag. Once a month, nuclear war with the Axis of Evil, wiping them off the Earth and finishing off the War on Terror for good.
Re: Scientology: The Cult Business
I've always wondered what Hillary carries in her bag, brass knuckles, balls or both?
As a president she would have the most experience of any of the past presidents in White House, but I doubt she will run.
