Re: Why live?
Inspiring, and made me think to share this. We live at the end of a dark period of ignorance and mis-education, the Modern Dark Age. We stand on the precipice of change unfounded in most of our history, change that occurs when we educate everyone on the planet, and humanity as one moves forward to our next great age.

Mostly I am angry and impatient these days, but its because I know this change is happening now, and its fire will be like nothing we have known. True, fire burns, but it also cleans, and fuels, and changes things. I am being part of that change, I teach others to use and build their own computers, sharing my decades of of challenged learning among those who have no clue. What was once hidden from people is now in the open, what learning used to cost tens of thousands of dollars is now available for free. All the classics of literature, the foundation of our western morals and ethics, are now available for all to read. All basic math and sciences, that wealth of knowledge that leads us forward, now available for free. Cost of the internet for most? Free. Cost of a decent computer that can use at least flash on the internet? You have to use a slower machine, and download before playing, but pentium 3 power is now free or under 100 US. Uruguay became the first country in the world to achieve one laptop per child, when its President Tabaré Vázquez handed out the last of its 400,000 XOs on October 13. (source: OLPC website.) Ten more years, everyone will be online, and most of us will speak computerese english with each other, for those few who can not speak english, online translation is about 70% accurate for free, and much better with some of the cheaper translation software. SO I live, and I wait, sometimes if a bit angry and impatient. I feel sad though, for all these banker ultra wealthy types who still think of the world as "common masses." They will fade away as a raunchy stereotype, when they could have been the heroes of all humanity.

Ummm, back to Minecraft.
