Re: The Sleepover
What is up with this clip? In no way is this funny or relevent. Just because something is on Saturday Night Live and has Lindsay Lohan in it doesn't make it worth my time or yours. :(

Re: The Sleepover

Re: The Sleepover
Ya know, I don't find it all that interesting myself, but...but..., but nothing! It's a 'whatever' at best.

Re: The Sleepover
Good christ. Not only is this horribly, embarassingly unfunny...But it's a direct ripoff of Gilda Radner's hyper kid schick.

Re: The Sleepover
Its been sucking for almost 6 years now. I'd classify this show as a black hole.

Re: The Sleepover
Well that was pretty dire, give me some UK comedy any day of the week. We may be interpreted as having the "stiff upper lip" but at leat we laugh when we want to, rather than when we are told to. NOTHING in that was remotely funny

Couldn't agree more. It's a sad state of affairs when I'm watching MADtv.

Re: The Sleepover
...so you're all just waaaay too cool for SNL now? you know, it's just a comedy sketch show. quit snooting about it like it's the end of the world. after all, not everyone thinks the same thing as you.

Re: The Sleepover
Whats sad is those fifteen people that think the skit is bad, spend most of their time on the internet looking at video clips on Milk and Cookies and have the audacity to critic professionals. The skit is hilarious to me because I don't spend hours a day on the internet and I have a life. But I can see how those bitter people without lives can find the skit un-funny. Don't be jealous, just laugh.

Re: The Sleepover
I'm shocked that you would have bothered to tell us that you have a far better life than any of us because you don't spend hours every day at M&C. I guess you'll never read this response then? Or, perhaps it was just flame bait. If you grace us with your presence again, please let us know which.

Re: The Sleepover
All I have to say is Amy Poehler did a hell of a good job portraying the character she was SUPPOSED to play...therefore, she did her job. PERIOD. Yes, Saturday Night Life has gone to shit, but in my opinion this clip is hilarious and it makes me smile whenever I see it-which is it's intention as a sketch. Just becuase you think it is horrible doesn't mean that the world agrees with you. It's alot harder than it looks, and I'd like to see you try to do a better job.

Re: SNL: The Sleepover
Yes, yes, it's very hip now to talk about how SNL sucks and has lost it's edge, etc., etc...
Those of you griping may not remember that the original SNL wasn't a snappy half hour of Coneheads, and the Festrunk Brothers, and "Jane you ignorant slut". It was nearly the exact same show it is today; irreverent and sophomoric comedy with touches of thoughtful satire that nonetheless had only two or three decent sketches per show and up to an hour of boring crap. Any of you remember when they marched out those bees? Oy - time for bed. In those days there was absolutely nothing else to watch at that time, so who cared?
If we remember it as being fresh and edgy, it's partly because of nostalgia, and partly because at that time, indeed, nobody had done it before. If they put today's show on back then, it would have blown television out of the water, by replacing the test pattern with not only irreverent, sophomoric, and satiric comedy, but also with it's great production value, better writing, and better endurance for the full hour and a half. I mean think about it, we loved Mr. Bill, but compared to Robert Smigel? Please.
This skit is freaking hilarious, particularly to those of us that have been stepdads to kids like this that we could have killed, except that we secretly loved them terribly. You either get it or you don't, just like those bees.
I WILL concede, however, to the guy that says she ripped it from Gilda. Gilda's character was very much like this and equally hilarious, though certainly as many people would have argued that it was dumb or boring as did here. I would suspect that Amy Poehler isn't copying as much as writing from a similar experience or knowledge of kids. Her "Kaitlin" is really dead on.
...and if you really want to refute me, bring up the musical acts - this aspect of the show has indeed sold it's soul to Satan. You used to get the idea that Lorne chose the acts - Paul Simon, Janice Ian, Randy Newman ... now I'm sure it's GE or Vivendi Universal - Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Ashley Simpson. It's almost enough to keep me from watching.
