Ong Bak 2: Fight Scene Starring Tony Jaa
Martial arts superstar Tony Jaa stars in and directs this epic tale of revenge set hundreds of years in the past. Featuring a huge cast and hordes of elephants, this prequel takes Jaa's skills to the next level, showcasing him as a master of a wide range of martial arts styles - while proving him to be a promising director as well.

Re: Ong Bak 2: Fight Scene Starring Tony Jaa
I was sad to learn that Jaa has joined a Buddhist monastery. Industry insiders think that this will be until 1 day after his 10 year contract expires with his current production company (creative differences).
Jaa was invited by Jackie Chan to be in Rush Hour 3, but was unable to do it because of production schedule conflicts. I understand the pressure of creating this film cost him most of his sanity. I hope he gets better and back in front of the camera soon.

Re: Ong Bak 2: Fight Scene Starring Tony Jaa
The second is better (by far), but weird in that the stories have the same actor, but absolutely nothing in common. Maybe it's an implied reincarnation thing.

Glad you liked it though. I watched "The Bodyguard" last weekend, and it was written/directed by the co-star in Ong-Bak 1. It's hilarious, but it only has a brief cameo of Jaa in it, so from that perspective, it was a little disappointing. I'll probably watch "The Badyguard 2" soon. I'll let you know how it is.

Since "The Five Element Ninjas" kicked this off, have you ever seen "The Five Deadly Venoms?" I noticed that one was available on YouTube when I was watching the former.

Btw, for others reading this, both Ong-Baks are streamable on Netflix. I highly recommend both, especially if you're in no mood for a deep plot but want plenty of eye candy...

Some bad people have been stealing the heads off of Buddha statues. They must be stopped!

The Five Deadly Venoms! Yes sir...so good.

And next week at Pdx Grindhouse is a double feature of Fist of the White Lotus + Seven Brothers Meet Dracula. Giddy!!

p.s. Speaking of streaming Netflix, if anyone hasn't seen My Bodyguard (1980, Chris "Rudy" Makepeace, Adam "Jayne" Baldwin, and Matt "Mutherf*ckin" Dillon), I highly, highly recommend. Oh, plus Ruth Gordon and Martin Mull.

Hmm, might explain why the third movie was so terrible.
