'Coalition of the Willing' is a collaborative animated film and web-based event about an online war against global warming in a 'post Copenhagen' world.
‘Coalition of the Willing’ has been Directed and produced by Knife Party, written by Tim Rayner and crafted by a network of 24 artists from around the world using varied and eclectic film making techniques. Collaborators include some of the world’s top moving image talent, such as Decoy, World Leaders and Parasol Island.
The film offers a response to the major problem of our time: how to galvanize and enlist the global publics in the fight against global warming. This optimistic and principled film explores how we could use new Internet technologies to leverage the powers of activists, experts, and ordinary citizens in collaborative ventures to combat climate change. Through analyses of swarm activity and social revolution, 'Coalition of the Willing' makes a compelling case for the new online activism and explains how to hand the fight against global warming to the people.

Re: Coalition Of The Willing
Oh, I'm feeling inspired.........brain.....in.......overdrive.......
Re: Coalition Of The Willing
The war on terrorism.
The war on drugs.
The war on climate change?
Maybe I'd be more inspired if it weren't phrased in such defeatist terms.
Swarm... Sounds a little 'socialisty', doesn't it? ;)
Great stuff!

Socialisty? Hardly. I think that swarming is an excellent description of what happens when people get caught up in the hype, whether that be for good or for evil, for socialist or for democratic purposes.
Facebook swarm. Young-voter swarm. Palin swarm. Twitter swarm. Open source swarm. Fucking iPhone swarm. Wal-mart swarm. SUV swarm. Buy-a-house-30-miles-away-because-it's-cheaper-and-prices-are-rising-by-20-percent-a-year swarm.
For this cause, Al Gore helped create a global warming swarm years ago. The problem was, the plan of action was to use that energy to try to convince politicians to come together and make change. There was some success, but not a lot. Then the economy collapsed, politicians focused on their own problems, and little happened. People got frustrated, and the swarm has started to dissipate, making the "goal" of political action all the more unrealizable.
This is a better model. This is a model that uses what we, as human animals, do best - build collective knowledge to adapt and survive, and it doesn't waste time on what we do worst - get everyone (or even a majority) to agree on something. People that want to get involved with whatever resources that have available to put to bear can do so, if we can get enough people to get together to build the rails.
Pretty exciting shit.
