Because you're not supposed to look directly at the video, but you need to hold a mirror up at it to see it in a reflection as to not catch the "stupid"

Worst. Intro. Ever.
I hate this all the more because the first 7 to 10 seasons of The Simpsons were so brilliant.
Matt Groening (circa 1989) would never have allowed this lame commercial to kick off the three-eyed fish episode.
Hey, I didn't get a harumph out of that guy.
Harumph.

Buckingham Green only pawn...in game of life.
Re: The Simpsons: Ke$ha, Tik Tok Openning
The brilliance in this intro is the fact that it is current, and the lyrics often match up with characterizations. And before you ask, I also was around from the beginning.

Re: The Simpsons: Ke$ha, Tik Tok Openning
Cool. And I ask this respectfully. But how does being "current" = "brilliance." And how does trying to match inane popstar lyrics with familiar cartoon characters = "brilliance?"
I feel like I might better understand said brilliance if I were wildly clapping my hands like a drunken monkey shouting in the voice of Lenny from Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, "Ha! Ha! Otto is blotto! It's funny because it's true! Ha! Ha!"
In fact, that's a Simpsons joke. From a time when they would have skewered this very intro mercilessly.
Are our standards for what serves as "brilliance" really so low?
Even if this intro was brilliant, it would still remain a lame commercial and sad reminder of how far the show has fallen.
p.s. Though the intro serves as the final death knell to the Simpsons, my comment isn't a negative statement about you, Jag. You may love this clip. And I cherish you all the same.
Because I certainly know I have my own guilty pleasures. Such as reading my favorite comic series long past their freshness date. And cranking Pat Benatar's "Love Is a Battlefield" on my ipod as I track the White_Wolf to watch him lick himself clean under the Alaskan Palin moonlight.

Re: The Simpsons: Ke$ha, Tik Tok Openning
Kesha is still a very bad rip off of Uffie.
Re: The Simpsons: Ke$ha, Tik Tok Openning
Thank you! I was thinking the same thing as watching this. Uffie is a reminder that pop music doesn't have to be recycled shit while Kesha provides nothing new or interesting to pop culture

You can't possibly be serious.
I'm no fan of Kei$ha (seriously, a dollar sign?), but if you're going to make an honest argument that Uffie isn't identical in its manufactured insincerity or empty packaging then I have a bridge for sale you might be interested in.

I know that Uffie draws her style from other musical influences, but no I wouldn't say she is a carbon copy the likes other female pop musicians. If you listen to some of the lyrics, she tends to promote ideas regarding female empowerment and is not heavily sexualized. She's a bit of a guilty pleasure for me but I have at least some respect for her as an artist.

Re: The Simpsons: Ke$ha, Tik Tok Openning
I don't know, Keleona. When I first read NoBiggie's comment, I thought, "Jesus, dude, who shit in your cornflakes this morning?", but after turning off my "new" Shostakovich Violin Concerto No 1 album to go see what all the fuss is about, I have to admit a guilty pleasure in viewing the Google images that pop up on an "Uffie" search. Not heavily sexualized? (Hmm, maybe she meant the lyrics) I must have picked a bad song to try, because the line that, um, sticks out in this one for me is "boys call me when they feel freaky hot." Not exactly women's lib. (Pop the Glock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1v2PtoxwNo )
Maybe you could add some links to some of her better material for us Uffie newbs. (Just ignore them, NoBiggie. We're already well aware of your opinion.)

Re: The Simpsons: Ke$ha, Tik Tok Openning
Wow, and here I thought I had made a pretty reasonable comment for once. Don't insult others' taste in fads, I guess.
Here's some more Uffie lyrics:
"when i rock the party, you bust a nut"
"bad ass bitch, im rated x"
"Rockin' high tops and sayin' no to stilettos, cause I might get drunk off my ass and I don't wanna fall"
"Now you and me, c'mon let's take it to the next level
Let's all go to the hotel pool as we finish the bottle
Maybe kiss and don't tell, it's the rule around here"
Classy, empowering stuff, and I can tell the artist really threw her real essence into the artistry of it. It's almost poetry.
C'mon guys, it's cool if you like it but don't hide behind denial just because it's embarrassing.

You seem rather defensive, judging my your first statement, especially considering you took it upon yourself to make a comment on my post.
However I'm thinking in retrospect that my thought about empowerment was pretty incorrect, possibly because I misheard one of her lyrics (thought "I aint about how weak girls are raising your dicks" was "I aint about how WE girls are raising your dicks"... very different meanings). I still stand by my view that she's more tame than the likes of Britney or Christina.
Denial? Embarrassing? I don't feel embarrassed and I certainly don't feel I'm in enough denial to admit being wrong. You seem to prefer rather aggressive and insulting conversation compared to the more open and respectful ones I tend to see on this site.

Re: The Simpsons: Ke$ha, Tik Tok Openning
I don't follow mainstream music. I never heard of her until just the other day when my friend posted her trainwreck of a performance on SNL. He didn't post it because he was a fan, he posted it to show just how horrible it was. I'm losing more respect for the Simpsons because of this.

It doesn't matter how terrible the last three or so years have been, I still laugh uproariously at the first 17.
And that's what everyone should remember about The Simpsons.

This is the first time The SImpsons has made me laugh in at least a decade.
