A 2007 segment from Beyond Tomorrow. This small motorcycle which is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell is awaiting regulatory approval in the European Union, as of February 2010.

If the hydrogen used to fuel this thing is produced in the standard way that industry produces it, by taking it out of hydrocarbons such as natural gas, then these vehicles will hardly be "emission neutral" until other sources of hydrogen are used.

Conventional hydrogen is produced by stripping it out of hydrocarbons. Pretty lame, but that's the cheapest way in our diseased economy.
But it can be made by electrolyzing water using electricity from any source. When the technology matures, hydrogen will be a way of storing home-made electricity.
