Re: Stephen Fry: Flaws in the Catholic Church
Well, if you all must raise the bar.
What is the topic? English intellectuals or catholic church? By the way, I had no idea that current pope was behind the denial and hiding of priests abusing children. Would like the direct post link to the doc.

Funny you should ask. It's a headline today on CNN.com.

It will be interesting, how the RCC pr will spin this story.

Re: Stephen Fry: Flaws in the Catholic Church
No problem! Actually, this story broke back in May. The "spin" the RCC is using is "if we ignore it, it will go away." To my knowledge, the pope has never admitted any wrongdoing or lapse of judgement in his former role. My guess is that to admit this would be to admit to his own fallibility, which *gasp* might damage his infallible reputation.

Re: Stephen Fry: Flaws in the Catholic Church
If the pope was just regular guy in US, he would be charged and convicted with aiding a sexual predator, one of many. Because he is in Vatican, nobody can touch him. I am surprised given the evidence he can travel freely to places like UK. He is a PR disaster, herding sheep aside, the bishops that voted for him must be kicking themselves now.
