When I watched this for the first time I was offended by O'Reilly's comment that Jon Stewart's audience is nothing more than a bunch of "stoned slackers." However, I was stoned when I was watching this so I quickly realized my anger was totally illegitimate.

O'Reilly is a true conservative mixing religion with politics...

Every time I see Bill O'Reilly, as a Brit, I am always wonder if this guy is actually regarded as credible or if everyone in America knows he's uninformed and predjudiced - but keep him on for the amusement factor. And this interview where he feels the need, rather than to discuss and have a dialogue on topics, to use infantile and playground insults to undermine his guest just adds to that wonderment.
I have to say as well, Jon Stewart comes across very well in this interview, and I was wondering if it was one of his own fans or a member of the FOX network who was laughing at some of his returns to O'Reilly...

O'Reilly does have a large following of real fans, as difficult as it is to believe. I cannot relate to his rhetoric personally so I cannot offer too much as to what his key demographics are. I can only say that he is quite popular, as evidenced by his ratings and I would wager a guess that his audience is substantially that of conservative christian upper middle class. This is very broad generalization however, and should be viewed as such.
I will say that as far as right wing personalities on the Fox network, Bill O'Reilly is considered a moderate.

I think what the rest of the world forgets is that every country has an equal share of idiots- it's a statistical certainty. In America, a capitalist society, enterprising folks have discovered how to tap into that large moron market, selling them an infinitely renewable resource of verbal pandering and garbage.
I think it takes a degree of intelligence to do what O'Reilly or Limbaugh do, and I don't believe that they fully believe everything they say. However, when you sell bullshit long enough and hard enough you find yourself one day covered in it.
It can be hard for outsiders to understand what motivates Americans to so easily abandon integrity and ethics for cash. What you have to remember is what we are indoctrinated with since birth- capitalism. Every day the media, entertainment, church and community hammers in the point: our only pursuits are wealth and fame.
But hey- it's not like things are better anywhere else. Just different.

I will add that I think Bill-O is not as dumb as everyone thinks. In fact, I think the whole thing is an act. While one may think he was constantly insulting Jon Stewart in this interview, I think he was just messing around. For example, Bill-O has used the "stoned slackers" comment before when talking about Jon's audience. I think he was merely trying to play the comedian, but failing horribly at it.

If he were really trying to be funny, he might take the cue that you can't insult people without giving some sign it's just a put-on.
My theory is that when comedians pick a target, you get the sense that they're ripping on the actions versus the actual people - if the folks in question didn't do/have the stand-out features, there wouldn't be much to talk about; they'd just be "folks".
But even though there may be some comedians who are exceptions to this approach (Carlin, Andrew Dice Clay - maybe), you STILL get the sense that the people are "protected", that is, the comedians are mocking traits, not the individual or group. It's not "real" hatred.
With Bill-O, he truly does hate the people he can't find any value in, and that's a pretty small population. Listen again to his too-brief take on "Real (TM) Americans" and you'll get an idea why neoconservatism and humor have nothing to do with each other. He can't be funny because there's no sense he's joking. He means it.

Bill is smart, he knows how to gain popularity. You start by appealing to the morons, and then you constantly reassure them that they are part of the "most popular" group.

I don't think he's dumb. I think he's a sociopath.

Am I missing something? Is there a problem with my computer? Or is this interview cut before then end and in fact not the "Entire Interview"?
Anyway, I REALLY enjoyed what I did see. Before watching this I liked Stewart, but wasn't blown away by him, but this was amazing. That guy's mind works at the speed of light and I love it.
