Homeopathy with Dr. Werner
The physics of homeopathy: from a massless universe to Dr. Steven Hawkings. Just in case you thought homeopathy wasn't supported by science.

Somehow I doubt she ever studied physics :)

Re: Homeopathy with Dr. Werner
The way homeopathy is supposed to work is, when you dilute a substance many times past Avogadro's limit, it's more powerful.

She's just making the science more powerful by mixing it into a solution of soft-headed new-age pseudoscience stupidity until there's not a single molecule of science left.

Power science!

Re: Homeopathy with Dr. Werner
I get it.

Water somehow has memory of what it encountered before.

So why do those water molecules you are using to dilute not still have the "memory" of other things they have encountered in the past?

like the sewage systems they past through on the way to the sea, where they evaporated, fell as rain, and then reentered the water system....

Re: Homeopathy with Dr. Werner
The more bad stuff in the water's checkered past, the better, since homeopathy is supposed to dilute poisons in order to cure diseases of similar symptoms to what that poison causes.

Unfortunately, with the popularity of viagra pee and poo going down toilets, homeopathy has been going soft.

She's an optometrist from Texas. No wonder she sees things a little differently. W's probably in the audience nodding like a wild man. "Heh. Heh. I understand it now. We couldn't see weapons of *mass* destruction cuz they were weapons of *light* destruction. And we must've brought 'em home cuz old Cheney used 'em to keep everyone in the dark. Good vibrations, I tell ya. Heh. Heh. Now, where are those pretzels?"

Re: Homeopathy with Dr. Werner
It's Sarah Palin's brainier cousin after she lost the beauty pageant to miss South Carolina.

e = mc^2

the mass of the universe can fit in the volume of a bowling ball, which is not very big, so you can almost cross out mass, therefore e = c

When Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann died in 1843, Einstein wouldn't be born for another 35 years, and so God in his infinite wisdom gave us sting theorist Steven Hawkings, (not to be confused with cosmologist Stephen Hawking).

Our bodies have light receptors, so we can see light, which propagates at the speed of light; and we have ears for hearing sound, which vibrates just like string theory posits that strings vibrate.

Cells are made of an infinitesimal amount of mass in the form of cell membranes, and cytoplasm; but lots of massless energy in the form of protons, electrons and neutrons.

We're made out of lots of cells, which are made out of lots of subatomic particles and only a little bit of squishy stuff, therefore we're made out of energy.

Never let your dog poop in her yard, or she'll get homeopathic on your ass. You'll find the energetic state of your house changed by a bomb, which is made out of energy.

And that's how homeopathy works.

Re: Homeopathy with Dr. Werner
Mass =/= Volume.

And she keeps forgetting to square the speed of light.

"Mass is crossed out, almost." Gravity is "almost" a nonexistant force compared to the other forces as well.

And I'm pretty sure viruses and bacteria and cellular damage causes disease.

And after that I totally lost her.

If energy is so transient as to be magically transformed by sprinkling a bit of water on it, then what's to stop a fart from ruining your entire stock?

Come back when you have some stories that aren't "miraculous" and instead make sense.

She probably had one too many of the homeopathic tinctures before that speech. Clear alcohol makes the tinctures more potent and if you are making your own don't forget to add medicinal herb, flower etc. of your choice.

I can't continue watching past the first minute, or I'm going to need to buy a new monitor tomorrow.

Not saying its a bad find, just a little hard on the ol' noggin to tolerate.

But now the dilemma. Do you rate 1 star because it was a parade of ignorance, or 4 stars because she was fun to watch her attempt to wrap science around her fantasy?

Re: Homeopathy with Dr. Werner
I generally vote on my level of amazement. In this case, the levels of ignorance, stupidity, and chicanery are pretty damned amazing. If you vote on the content, a lot of bullshit going on in the world will never come to light, as it is skipped over for a "Bad" or "Stinker" rating.

Palin videos come to mind. She's a 1* person with plenty of 5* videos containing much outrageous idioticalness.

Maybe what we need here at M&C are two ratings - one for amazement and one for quality of content. That way, we could make our intentions more clear.

Re: Homeopathy with Dr. Werner
The voting standard should be on how prominently you think the item should be featured around here. Vote high on a video about a train wreck if you're glad you saw it.

Check out the favorite count on this one. As of today, it's been favorited 26 times, but only voted on 10 times.

This video's pure gold.

Re: Homeopathy with Dr. Werner
A string of unsupported assertions followed by the most ludicrous conclusion capped by some anecdotal story about one of her patients ...absolutely no science whatsoever, even if she does invoke Hawkings. Ill wager you she also believes in alien abduction as well. LOL ... Absolute rubbish, show me some science .. show me one scientific study that has produced any data that supports homeopathy, it doesn't exist. If it works, where are the data??

Re: Homeopathy with Dr. Werner
Actually Homeopathy is a tried and true system. We are just not used to thinking in trms of systems but in diagnosis and surgery. Our medical system, which works beautifuly on some things does not address everythng. When you have no where to turn, try Homeopathy and BodyTalk System. They both work! I did and I am now healthy from Lyme Disease.

Re: Homeopathy with Dr. Werner
Homeopathic remedies are placebos at best. It's up to producers of homeopathic products to submit these to rigorous scientific tests and prove that I'm wrong. Stories are awesome, but there is more truth in statistical analysis of the verifiable effects of drugs, wether they be homeopathic or real. Go sell your snake-oils somewhere else please.

Glad to hear homeopathy worked for you. But I actually found a way to make homeopathic remedies over 1 million times more effective!

I can give you the secret they don't want you to know but you'll have to "donate" $1,000 USD so I can continue my research.

Actually, you're stupid.

Under normal circumstances I'd choose not to engage in a flame war on a community I respect as much as M&C, however what you just said justifies it.

If I may adapt a movie quote for my own purposes; "No, no. No, see, this is a really shit idea. You know why? Because it's really OBVIOUSLY a shit idea."

Re: Homeopathy with Dr. Werner
What led you to believe that you had Lyme disease? Did you get a blood test, or did your homeopath merely "diagnose" you as having "chronic" Lyme disease based on vague symptoms like fatigue and joint pain?
