No, delusion is always pointless. The clearest joy and peace of mind and sense of purpose comes from accepting that this life is very likely the only one you've got. What if the greatest hell is wasting one's life, even if--and perhaps especially if--it's for the sake of an afterlife that will never be? I've taken a full bite of the fruit of life. I've savored both the grainy, sticky sweetness of the meet, and the coarse, bitterness of the core. I've smiled into sunshine as the juice of life ran down my chin, and I don't regret the stains it left.

I have worked to make the world a better place, and I'm at peace with death because of my life's work. My only challenge now is to do even more to leave a legacy of justice and freedom and peace.

Take ownership of your life, son, and you'll know what real satisfaction and peace of mind is. You can't imagine a god who can do as much to improve your life as what you can do for yourself.
