lets see: world war one and world war two both against other industrialised nations with professional armies and full time governments. both ended in about 4 and a half years each. war in afghanistan: since 2002 or so and counting. war in viet-nam: with the french and americans: over 20 years. both wars were not won because of political inertia or the fact that there was too much money to be made selling guns and planes and smart weaponry? the military industrial complex that eisenhower warned about(and probably did nothing to stop whilst in office), doesn't want to win wars. its like private medicine: there's no money to made in helping people get well.
