Rachel Maddow: "Billionaires For Wealthcare" At Teabagger Protest In Washington, DC - 09/14/09

Billionaires for Wealthcare is a grassroots network of health insurance CEOs, industry lobbyists, talk-show hosts, and others profiting off of our broken health care system.

We are not a political, religious or even particularly well-organized group. We're simple folk, thrilled profiteers pouring out of our corner offices to dance on the grave of "Change."

We'll do whatever it takes to ensure another decade where your pain is our gain. After all, when it comes to healthcare, if we ain't broke, why fix it?

Re: Rachel Maddow: Billionaires For Wealthcare
There is no way to justify an overhead operating budget of 30 cents on the dollar, especially when a huge chunk of that overhead is bloated salaries supplemented by bloated bonuses. The money saved by denying you surgery to remove that tumor because you had a pre-existing condition is being used to install a pool at some CEO's ninth home. Especially when the VA operates at between 1 and 4 cents on the dollar. There is no person on this planet worth more than 10,000,000 dollars a year. Greed is killing people by the millions, and the people hoarding our futures in their off-shore bank accounts couldn't spend the money they make in a hundred lifetimes. If one person dies of an illness that could be cured because they don't have enough money to pay for it, the entire system is responsible for that person's death, and in my mind, the first cent you earn by participating in that system puts the blood on your hands. Human life is not a commodity, but in today's world, your worth only as much as the number of coins in your pocket.

Unless its people who die on waiting lists or due to inadequate care in public systems, then it doesn't count.

Re: Rachel Maddow: Billionaires For Wealthcare
As opposed the the very real 'death panels' constituted by insurance companies who literally condemn people to death by refusing to pay for healthcare? Inadequate care? Waiting list? We pay more than anyone else as a country for healthcare, though we're 37th for quality of care. Yeah, the status quo is inadequate. It's evil. It's gonna make us go broke, and it's got to CHANGE.

I might also add that the only government run healthcare program that has been shut-down due to fatal inadequacy? The elderly-care program Sarah Palin oversaw as Governor, which resulted in over 250 deaths in Alaska:

Re: Rachel Maddow: Billionaires For Wealthcare
I can't help myself: you're working from a logical fallacy, in that when a 'FOR PROFIT' company won't provide life saving care, it's MURDER, which is an entirely different concept from ineffective care, whether or not the care is ineffective due to insufficient resources. Also, the fact remains, it would be an OPTION, not mandatory. Feel free to keep paying for your overpriced, overvalued, for-profit insurance. Good luck negotiating with your HMO.

Re: Rachel Maddow: Billionaires For Wealthcare
I think if this gets passed then what's going to happen is the quality of health care will be reduced so that everyone can be covered. So ya there will have to be some sacrifices.

Re: Rachel Maddow: Billionaires For Wealthcare
Hundreds of thousands of concerned Americans, zero arrests and almost no trash.

And all you opponents can do is call your fellow citizens childish names like "teabagger".

Re: Rachel: Billionaires For Wealthcare
Childish names? They picked that name, 'teabaggers.' Also, Glenn Beck is lying to you, it wasn't hundreds of thousands, it was a little more than 70,000. Childish names? They call us Hitler. Did you see the other headline, the one titled 'Teabaggers Can't Handle a Little Dissent?' That wasn't adult behavior. The signs opponents carry around are some of the most offensive I've ever seen.

They include veiled threats to the President's life. They are childish. They're also ignorant of the real issues behind this movement. They don't value human life unless it's their life. They don't realize vulnerable they are under the current system. 7 out of 10 Americans who go broke because of medical crisis HAVE INSURANCE. These companies literally have a gun in our ribs, and are robbing us blind, and teabaggers are telling us it's the American way. I, for one, disagree. See you at the next protest. I'll be the sane one with the tasteful sign.

Re: Rachel: Billionaires For Wealthcare
Its tea party, as in the original tax protest. Jeeeeez.

It was too Hundreds of Thousands, I have seen many independant photos.

They They They, and its all stuff you can't prove about one person at the protest.

The hollowness of your position becomes apparent upon cursory examination.

Re: Rachel: Billionaires For Wealthcare
There was a huge distribution of photos from other rallies passed off as ones from this one. Th FOX News did that, which shouldn't surprise you. The people on the ground, the people managing the crowds, the POLICE and FIRE DEPARTMENT, said 75,000 to 80,000. You're eyeballing photos which may or may not have been of the same rally has considerably less credibility than someone who was there and who's job it is to estimate the number of people present.

I can see why Maddow, Olberman and MSNBC get such low viewership ratings. Lame programming only attracts lame brains.

See above, sir. Your inarticulate rambling neither establishes a coherent argument, nor even addresses the key concepts in my statement. I invite you to try again, though, sir.
