Not Working?
The Bush family, the Saudi Royal family, Osama Bin Laden’s family and Donald Rumsfeld’s inner circle – these are just some of the high profile figures who have played a direct role in the rise of one of the most powerful and influential and secretive firms in Washington.
The company is called The Carlyle Group. And in the wake of the events of September 11th and the invasion of Iraq, its power and influence have become significantly stronger.
The company operates within the so-called iron-triangle of industry, government and the military. Its list of former and current advisers and associates includes a vast array of some of the most powerful men in America and indeed around the world.
This program exposes the history of the Carlyle Group, from it’s inception as a private equity firm to it’s precent status as one of the largest defence contractors in the world.

Bear with the first couple of minutes not being narrated in English. The vast bulk of this 48:04 clip is, however.

Re: The Iron Triangle: Carlyle Group Exposed
No mention of it being Dutch? Pfff ...
Well, I posted a few Tegenlicht (Backlight) episodes a while back, but they were (and are) not getting the attention they do, in my opinion, deserve.
Anyway, I took the time to translate the opening. I did this hastily, but you can trust me it's accurate enough:
"The war in Iraq is over. The heaps of rubble are still smoking, but the first bulldozers are already starting to roll into the country. After the Coalition Forces first destroyed Baghdad, there are now mostly American companies that are allowed to rebuild Iraq. Notable is that these companies often have people from the American political scene on their payrolls. Can there be said to be a conflict of interest, or is it a new, global way of doing business?
The Iron Triangle.
One of the companies that operates in this manner is the Carlyle Group. On their payroll are listed people such as George Bush, Sr., James Baker III, and old premier John Major. The Carlyle Group is a private investment bank that rarely displays itself publicly, but it’s one of the biggest American investors in the fields of defense, telecommunication, real estate, and financial services.
What is the Carlyle Group, who are the people behind the group, and how much power has Carlyle?"
*wants snow bunny*

Re: The Iron Triangle: Carlyle Group Exposed
We all owe you at least one snow bunny, maybe a sickly caribou or two. Thanks.

Re: The Iron Triangle: Carlyle Group Exposed
Yah, I do like to weed out the old and sickly now and then.
Psssst! Aren't you getting uncomfortable? (The caribou are never so stupid as to publicly announce their retirement, nor are the moose.)
*howls*
