Our wedding entrance dance to Forever...yeah, forever.

Re: JK Wedding Entrance Dance
It's clear the groom is the ham in the couple. Too bad, because the bride's barely-stifled embarrassment made an anticlimactic entrance, on her part. Still, there's something beautiful in the joy of this. I love the bold colors, and I'm impressed they had so many family members and friends willing to participate.

...Come to think of it, I'd love it if my funeral looked like this.

Re: Forever Wedding Entrance Dance
I teared up when I watched this the first time. People do stunts at weddings all the time, but this is the first one I've seen that is really an expression of joy. If there is any event in life that should be totally Bollywood, it's a wedding.

And just like that, overnight, it's all over the internet and everyone I know has seen it and loves it. I mean God bless 'em, and it's cute and all, but I'm already sick of it. It's just not really that special.

Re: Forever Wedding Entrance Dance
I am an atheist and still find it disturbing that this went on inside a church. Decorum not being the strong suit here, it is obvious that the dance sequence to the tune of a famous abuser of females might have been better saved for the reception. Is it really funny when white folks dance? It must be because they look ridiculous and I am embarrassed for them. Not a black face in the crowd, and one wonders what has happened to the sanctity of marriage. I get it. They are having fun. Wet blanket thrown.

Re: Forever Wedding Entrance Dance
You bring up a couple interesting points here. Let's go through them, shall we?

I haven't considered myself a Christian for a long, long time, but I know the Bible well enough to point to several passages, especially in Psalms, that say dancing is not only an acceptable form of praise and worship, but in some cases, it is preferred. There's nothing dirty or indecent about their dancing. It's just joyful.

You bring up an ad hominem against the song, stating that the performer is an "abuser of females." I don't know if that matters, though. We don't look at Handel's relationship with women before we sing 'Messiah.' It's a moot point because the music stands on its own. Now, I'm not saying 'Forever' is any 'Messiah,' but it's lyrics are actually pretty appropriate for a wedding. I mean, it's got sexual undertones, but explicitly, it's all about an eternal love.

You lost me on the race thing, though. It seems less like you're arguing that white people can't dance so much as that they may not dance. Either way, I don't know how to argue against that kind of racist statement without making my own racist arguments. Maybe it was a joke, but the general wet-blanket tone of your comment makes that questionable.

My point is that a wedding is a joyful thing. The white dress doesn't represent virginity, but was a Victorian symbol of joy. These kids have scores of friends and family that support their love for one another enough to participate in this, and yes, in some cases, look ridiculous doing so. Isn't that suggestive of the kind of support they can expect to need during the hard times in their marriage?

I guess I'd just like to know your demographics, so that I can better understand where you're coming from. Are you white? Married? American?

Man, I was all over the place, wasn't I? Seriously, worst post ever. Typing out loud in a bad mood is never a great idea. I can not even begin to understand my point. Oh-Deeh, forgive me for wasting your time. What I posted was not mean spirited, it was just mean. Being weak ,wounded and raised Catholic is no excuse. This will not happen again. I wish these newlyweds nothing but the best.

Re: Forever Wedding Entrance Dance
Your post was great: I am 100% non-religious and even I saw the hypocrisy of violating the reverent nature of the church. How many poor clergy people have I seen visibly cringe at some of the drunken stupid crap that they have to tolerate in their churches in order to make ends meet.

Handel has done enough for art that he warrants considering his art without considering the man, particularly when advancing the name and work of Handel will not put any money in Handel's pocket. This is not the case for Chris Brown and his mediocre flash-in-the-pan pop music.

The race comments were funny - that's all.

Finally, the wet blanket was appropriate...as I said above, it's a cute idea, but the more praise I hear for these people inspired by their "joy of life" or whatever, the more I question all those "inspired" people.

So I guess I'll see your wet blanket and raise you a "F#$k this clip". No, seriously, f#$k this clip.
