There are some atheists out there who have some pretty nutty beliefs. Just look up stuff on reptoids.

But that means you have to think and question your leaders and your text. What if not everything happens for a reason? Or a good one? That's what scares the shit out of some fundamentalists. Some people need to cling to things without questioning. If they don't know everything the world spins out of control.

Fundamentalist Christians don't have the monopoly on this. In my experience, here are people with all sorts of worldviews like this.

Bless my stars, I've had atheists get up in my face with all the fervor of Kent Hovind before, trying to convert me. Vegans, critical mass bicyclists, sports fanatics, people who don't believe in medication, zero population growth folks, Zionists, hipsters, republicans, democrats--anyone who is insecure about themselves and wears a label and who doesn't feel I'm sippin what their pourin, they feel the need to try and sell me some shit. Tell me what I do is bullshit or what they do is The Way. The Fervent Obama Supporters, this was a big one. I had a few run ins with people over that before the election. I just didn't believe my voting choice was a way of life.

A great many people just don't have enough faith in their own decisions about their own lifestyles to let me have mine in peace.
