VON RYAN'S EXPRESS(1965)
This Word War Two adventure starring Frank Sinatra is considered by most critics to be one of the greatest war movies ever made. Sinatra is Col. Joseph Ryan, an American pilot shot down and imprisoned in Italy during the war. When Italy surrenders, Ryan leads the prisoners in a daring escape, but they are soon recaptured by the Nazis. While being transported to another prison by train, the prisoners take control of the train and plan to make their way into neutral Switzerland. Trevor Howard, John Leyton, Edward Mulhare, Brad Dexter, and Sergio Fantoni costar. Also, this film marked early appearances by James Brolin and James B. Sikking. Spectacular scenery, great acting, and fast-paced drama make this one a true classic.
