Fox News Trashes the Netherlands

In part of a special series on the secularization of Europe, Fox News ran this segment trashing the Netherlands. The clip uses Fox News's frequent method of attributing its judgments to "some observers" and "people." One such quote from about halfway through the segment:
"They have become what some observers say is militantly secular, ridiculing anyone who holds religion as important and shunning all public displays of faith."
And be sure to stay tuned for this quote at the end that typifies the Fox News approach:
"After euthanasia and infanticide, the next move in the Netherlands is probably a suicide pill, not for those who are terminally ill, but just tired with life. While it hasn't been legalized and is probably still several years off, people are already talking about the idea."
Notice how this last assertion that "people are already talking about the idea" is self-authenticating...

Wow, they sure can spin at Fox. Like gay marriage, weed and (somewhat) controlled prostitution are bad things.
"Holland used to be a Christian country, but you would never know it from the scenes on the streets and the policies coming out of parliament." As if there should be Christian influences in parliament?
The part about religion taking hits is downright false, ever since the renaissance religious beliefs have been declining here. Already back in those days a lot of people were agnostic or atheistic. Especially Amsterdam was tolerant of diverse beliefs.

If that polygamy marriage thing were true, I'd have long been dragged over there by a few dozen Inuit girls.
Anyway, for one moment my heart stopped, but then I recalled that I was watching Fox News, and promptly dug up another beer from the permafrost.
ST, I do think that we'll see a lot less freedom in the Netherlands. Biometric passports? EU Database of all citizens, complete with lots of information on each citizen (never to be used for other than statistical reasons, they say). New 'Freedom of Speech' laws. Our own National Socialist. You know, the one with the peroxide beaver on his noggin.
So, if ya don't object, I'll stay right up here. Young lemmings everywhere. (Hell, even if you do object, I'll still stay up here.)

In Holland we are quite aware that fox sucks, and we have our own fox, geenstijl and telegraaf. But please, don't linkdump such retro crap. No pun.

As long as they do not rival 700 Spartans, I couldn't care less.
Right now, if someone would make a movie about the 700 Club, aka the Christians, it will resemble something like this:
Leader of the Christians (Pat Robertson, fondly called PR by his followers): "Christians!"
Christians (the Herd): *chew on wheaten bread*
PR: "Christians! This is America!"
The Herd: *swallows as one*
PR: "They are coming over the hills now. See them! Big swarms. AK-47s held aloft, a rising murmur."
The Herd: "Mooooooooooooo!"
PR: "Quick! The wine! Pop the bottles!"
The Herd goes into a stupor.
PR: "This is madness! They are almost upon us. Oh, pray!"
First wave of attackers (draped in burkas): "Where are we going? Can't see. ... Forward! Allah is great!"
One of the Herd has accidentally hit his head against a stone wall. He is momentarily sober, looks up, touches the stones, the rare ferns nestling in the cracks. He yells: "A SIGN!!! GOD HAS SPOKEN. HE WILL SHELTER US IN HIS HOUSE."
The Herd stampedes into the church. Meanwhile, a platoon of burkas stumbles past.
PR: "Blessed are the meek, for we will be cradled in stone. America!"
PR goes into a flag-waving fit. His rallying point attracts the attackers' second assault body: ironclad camels. Dust ... cries! ... Dust.
The Herd looks through glass-in-lead windows, out over the plain. The burkas have disappeared, and so have the camels. Over the first low hills, more enemy troops appear: battering rams disguised as mosques loom ominously, their wheels creaking like babies brought to the slaughter. The remains of PR rest not in peace, as hails of AK-47 fire splatter them around.
The Herd: *shivers* (incidentally, this is South Dakota and it's January)
... The end*.
