Re: Fish Don't Vote
Aw... Good for you, Pantufas! It takes a lot of gumption to keep posting on this site when people keep shooting your posts down for being so mind-numbingly neocon!
Now here's an example of how someone might react to this piece of Fox News sensationalism.
In classic Fox style, they never substantiate any of the numbers they're reporting. 80,000 jobs are at stake, according to Paul and Sean. But a New Republic article on this same issue lists only 35,000 jobs at stake. But let's ignore that for a minute and ask ourselves, "Why didn't they bother to include an informed, opposing view on this matter?" It might be that one can make any issue sound indefensible if you don't even include one bullet point of defense for it.
The law doesn't just protect the delta smelt (in fact, it only references the smelt as an indicator of the health of the ecology), it protects an entire ecosystem, with far reaching environmental implications. The fact that the fish is two inches long is in itself a "ridiculous" point, to use a word repeated ad nauseam in this piece. It's size is moot, if it's importance to the ecosystem is immeasurable.
So good on you, Pantufas, for posting a clip of Sean Hannity illustrating his vast ignorance of science by mocking the connection this "meticulous" law makes between the health of the San Francisco Bay/Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and ocean life. You're a brave little trooper, Pant! Keep up the good work!
