Pat Condell: Children of a Stupid God
This video contains a small inaccuracy that biblical scholars will doubtless pounce on. The phrase "lake of fire" actually comes from Revelation, not from Jesus, but he's still responsible for the Christian idea of eternal damnation, the bastard.

When the Federation of Galaxies convenes in about six months to select one excellent human being from this planet for their presidency, Pat is one of my big competitors.

(Delusions of grandeur, vanity, and the color white are all much appreciated by our fellow species on other worlds. Yes, I know what you're thinking: the universe isn't perfect.)

I *half* want them to take him away.

So your pick for president is a guy who made hundreds of videos of himself whining about something that he doesn't like?

Do you have low self-esteem?

Usually, W_W has a very low self-esteem and has a hard time repressing his suicidal tendencies. Sometimes he thinks he's a genius, then he swiftly remembers how little he knows.

Two sentences into this comment, I recall that writing in third person about yourself is fun. Please excuse me now while I howl.

When the Federation of Galaxies convenes on earth again, they'll put LSD back into the air and have us write more scriptures bout god.

Re: Pat Condell: Children of a Stupid God
The lake of fire is a Revelation thing, but Jesus did mention the fiery pit of Gehenna. However, neither refers to hell. Instead, they simply mean permanent destruction. When you're dead, you're dead. Not much difference from atheist beliefs.

Hell is not found in the Bible. Hades and Sheol both mean grave. When you die, you go to your grave.

The Bible does mention a false god called Moloch whom people would sacrifice their first born to. In Jeremiah 7:31 God says he never commanded such a thing nor had it even occurred in his heart.

Revelation 20:14 says that death and Hades are thrown into the lack of fire. Meaning that God will put a stop to death. Which is a good thing.

Some atheists I respect, but Pat just comes off as a douche bag.

An end to death? How is that a good thing? Seems very unnatural, shit would get crowded.

Pat is a douche.

Do the "wailing" and "gnashing of teeth" not refer to hell?

Re: Pat Condell: Children of a Stupid God
What you speak of is at Matthew 13:42. To understand its meaning read versus 37-43. It does not refer to hell but destruction at judgment day.

Hell is not in the Bible and it makes absolutely no sense. Imagine a child misbehaves. Would you beat the child senselessly for the rest of their life? Would you send them to their room for the rest of their life? Do you honestly think a loving God would torture people FOREVER!

Let's say you live for 100 years. Do you think it would be fair to be punished for another 100 years in a place of torment? What about 1,000 years? What about 100,000 years, or a million, or a billion? The concept of eternal damnation is absurd.

I forgot to mention that sacrifices to Moloch were done by burning the child alive in a pit of fire. In Jeremiah, God states that the idea never even occurred to him.

There is no hell.

Re: Pat Condell: Children of a Stupid God
Umm...yes, of course it's absurd and makes no sense. Neither does the concept of Judgment day, or of "God" for that matter. As for Moloch, why on earth would you choose to criticize that particular instance of human sacrifice in support of a Bible that has so many instances itself ... (http://www.evilbible.com/Ritual_Human_Sacrifice.htm) ...

not to mention the biblical stories of humans bidden by God to kill, rape, sell others into slavery, commit incest, sacrifice animals, etc.? How credible do you really think your comments are?

Re: Pat Condell: Children of a Stupid God
Here is the problem. Atheists make 2 assumptions:

1. There is no god and all religions are man made with all gods being imaginary.

or

2. There is a god and all the religions and problems should be blamed on him.

What they never seem to consider is that there is a God but he as nothing to do with most religions.

I am well aware of how corrupt religions are and of their role in wars, genocide, torture, etc.....

Chances are you don't believe in God because of all the problems that exist in the world. You believe that if there is a God he would do something. The truth is that he is allowing humans to rule this planet to prove that we need him. WE are the cause of wars, rape, torture, etc. However, because of your mortality you lack patience.

Judgment day is not absurd. Judgment day is the day he regains control and destroys the wicked humans causing all of our problems.

You think the concept of God is absurd? You believe that by accident this planet contains precious metals such as silver, gold, bronze, copper, and platinum. You believe by accident this planet contains precious stones such as rubies, emeralds, sapphires, diamonds, marble among other minerals. You believe by accident a reflective satellite orbits this planet providing light for a night sky. You believe by accident this planet orbits a ball of energy at just the right distance that life is capable.

You believe by accident that life originated. That that life would take the form of complex creatures both fully functional and beautiful in form such as dolphins, horses, lions, wolves, eagles, etc.. You believe by accident that plants formed.

That by accident a water cycle of evaporation and precipitation would provide water for most areas of this planet. That by accident after some showers a rainbow would appear.

You believe that by accident this planet is tilted allowing for a variety of different seasons. Seasons in which plants would become beautiful fragrant flowers in the spring. Provide fruits and vegetables throughout the summer. Then in autumn their leaves would display a rainbow of colors before falling.

You believe by accident seeds reach out in the soil for nutrients and collect solar power through leaves from a source of energy thousands and thousands of miles away. That by accident these plants would turn this energy into sugars and starches. That by accident delicious fruit would hang by delicate stems made for picking. By accident the plants and animals would create a symbiotic relationship to produce and consume oxygen and carbon dioxide.

That by accident one creature would learn to create music, art, gardens, architecture, and various beautiful cultures. That this superior creature would think and reason. That these humans are in fact intelligent designers capable of a variety of creations. Yet, some of them refuse to consider that maybe there are beings above them.

Sorry if I believe all this was no accident. Sorry if I don't blame God for man's mistakes including most of the corrupt religions of this world.

I don't believe that any of those things are accidents, but that they are coincidence.

You're forgiven for your ignorance.

Re: Pat Condell: Children of a Stupid God
That's a lot of coincidences. I don't think an ignorant person could have come up with those many points. Ridicule all you want, you ask for evidence yet fail to accept it.

You would find a beautiful home in the desert. It would have an ornate garden to compliment its complex design. The home would have fully functioning water and electricity. You knock on the door, but no answer. You must assume that it happened by accident or coincidence. It amazes me that you can't see what is right in front of your eyes.

Coincidence...ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Re: Pat Condell: Children of a Stupid God
Most religions are corrupt. Here is an example everyone should like. Have you heard the Lord's prayer also known as the model prayer? It goes "Our father who art in heaven.....blah blah blah" Here are 3 reason why most religions are clueless.

1.)Most Christian religions memorize it and say it over and over. What most of these idiots don't realize is that Jesus flat out told them not to repeat it. Someone asked Jesus how to pray and he gave an example. Before giving the example, he gave specific instructions. In Matthew 6:7 Jesus says to NOT say the same things over and over. Other religions have chants, Jesus was saying that prayer should be from the heart NOT recited. Then he gave the model prayer. AND THESE IDIOT MEMORIZE AND REPEAT IT. I'm calling them idiots because their ignorance and corruption makes God look bad. (I don't believe Jesus is God)

2.) The Bible was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic. Yet, most religions today choose to read an outdated translations in archaic English instead of a translation in modern in English. They seem to think it is holier to speak in old English. So instead of "Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified", they say "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name." If you are going to quote the Bible, do so in your normal native language or in the original. Don't bring in some outdated language no one uses anymore.

3.) Most Christian religions believe that all good people go to heaven. That isn't in the Bible anywhere. The Bible says "the meek will inherit the Earth" (Psalms 37:11). The model prayer says in their translation "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven". These idiots memorize that scripture but if you ask them what that means, they have no FREAKIN' idea!!!

So all you atheists should enjoy that. 3 examples why most Christians are clueless based on one Bible scripture.

Hell is not in the Bible, it was just a scare tactic used to control people. Most people think demons are red with horns, pitchforks, and pointed tails. According to the Bible, demons are just bad angels. There is no difference in appearance. Satan was said to be one of the most beautiful, that is why he rebelled. He is described as turning into an "angel of light". That's why religions are so corrupt.

From Randy Newman:

"I burn down your cities--how blind you must be

I take from you your children and you say how blessed are we

You must all be crazy to put your faith in me

That's why i love mankind

You really need me

That's why i love mankind"

Are you another person, like Pat, who says there is no God and then blames all the world's problems on him? I don't understand how someone can say "there is no God" and then blame him for everything.

Re: Pat Condell: Children of a Stupid God
It's obvious that Pat Condell, has a lot of reasonable complaints, but the manner in which he bickers seems relatively annoying (at least to me). Don't get me wrong I love his two cents, but his overall tone is obviously directly fueled by personal bitterness. I, myself, am an atheist whom full hardily agrees with points he is trying to make, but like any atheist, reliance on unbiased straightforwardness is crucial. What I have witnessed from Condell in anything but, which means he is blinded by bias. Which means when shaping my own opinions, he is an unreliable source.

"In order to rid humanity of unnecessary godly ideals, one must eliminate biases." STP
