Not Working?
Media Matters has documented numerous examples of Fox News hosts and correspondents cropping comments by progressives and Democratic political figures in a manner that misrepresents them.

Re: FOX Crops
only the last one seems like real misrepresentation the first two seem as though they are just being shortend for time.

Re: FOX Crops
Really?!
If they were just editing for time, why wouldn't they just take the ten seconds of Gore's response to congresswoman Blackburn's question where he says, "...Every penny I have made from this

Re: FOX Crops
Sorry, I accidentally hit "Post."
Gore says, "...Every penny that I have made I have put right into a non-profit, the Alliance for Climate Protection..." Isn't THAT the crux of his statement? Doesn't editing down to him smirking and say, "You don't know me." make him seem smug and arrogant, where the "Every penny" makes it clear his intentions are incredibly altruistic?
And REALLY!? You don't think it's important that Obama continues on to say, "...Which is why I didn't request a single earmark last year...!?" They're using the first line of that segment as an argument against him like creationists use Darwin's complex eye and missing transitional forms statements against natural selection. It's a rhetorical fallacy to stop at the first part of the question/answer structure and claim the opponent is making your case. You get that, right? Like Jon Stewart said, it's like cursing Dickens because you stopped at "It was the best of times."

Re: FOX Crops
Thank God you got back so soon; I had already dialed 911, but hung up when your next one arrived.
Re: FOX Crops
I agree. I feel like you can start get to the intent of the crop when you hear the lead in of the Gore piece with "Windfall." I have only used that when I'm talking about people getting paid.
If you go look at the Fox piece, it's completely different from this quote. She even says that he never answers the question, and that he's proud to be doing well in business. Strongly suggested.
It's even called "Al Gore's Cash Cow."

Re: FOX Crops
And Media Matters is always a straight shooter when it comes to its reporting and providing talking points to its people. Example, take a look at Olberman. His comments are always posted online, and written by someone else. Media Matters is a joke.

There will always be someone out there to feed the trolls. It's one of the fundamental rules of the internets.

Re: FOX Crops
OH! you know who else steals jokes? Dane Cook. Dane Cook, Joke Stealer. (I dont think that qualifys as a "feeding" but thats all I got today.)

Re: FOX Crops
Now *that* was funny... You also could have gone with the topics of "atheism," "homosexual marriage," or "9/11 conspiracy." But the judges will accept Dan Cook combined with "stealing jokes..." :)
Re: FOX Crops
Er, "Dane" Cook. Ah...who gives a sh!t. It's friggin' Dan Cook.
Re: FOX Crops
Well. FOX was squarely in the Hillary camp. It must have been disappointing for them to watch Obama blaze past their best gal.
